Tried to explain this very concept to a guy I met at a friends house yesterday who kept insisting the Mayans and the Egyptians must have had some sort of outside help from more advanced civilisations(most probably aliens) to build their grand structures, teach them their advanced mathematics, and teach them about the astronomy, because of how "implausible and mystical it was for people back then to be able to do these things on their own".

Are you guys really serious about this? The grandma is probably just doing something else. Time travelling isn't even possible. Let me explain it:

First of all, time is something steady, you cannot look into the future and the past has already happened. Time travelling is one of those things that just isn't possible. Sure, people might be able to create teleporters and stuff in the future, but you can't mess with something that ... you can't mess with. You just can't go back in time, other than travelling to the other side of the world .


About the mayans and egyptians: We are the ones that learned those stuff from them. It's not like we or some weird 'alien' went back in time to teach them those stuff. People who believe such things are mentioning two very unlikely things (aliens and going back in time) in one sentence, which makes it even more laughable.

Time travel to the future is definitely possible and there is no way you could make a conclusion on whether or not time travel into the past is possible with what we currently know about physics brah.

This obviously isn't a time traveler though that's ****ing stupid.
