ive never watched an ep of One piece before
i know nothing about that show except that one luffy guy can extend his limbs
and that there is a weird deer in it.

Well it is definitely worth a try. If you like it or not is up to you. For all the "starters" the episode count is somewhat scary and they are saying "I can't catch up *sob* *sob*" and etc. bullshit.
It starts out at a pretty decent speed. Luffy picks up the base crew fast(5 people incl. Luffy), but further on it goes pretty slowly. Right now they are at 9 members and Luffys intention was to pick up a crew of 10 people. So 1 more awaits,
I don't know...hard to tell, just watch. It may take time to actually "get attached" to this anime. I only really started to like it after around 50+ episodes or a little more because it was kinda shaby for a first-timer.
Oh and if you get far enough to Apis arc then you might want to skip it. THE worst filler in this anime.
As for myself I went through all the fillers because most of them are actually quiet decent with Apis being an exception, but still tolerable.
And it's funny to see Nami growing from around B cup size to double D in later series

It's and overall story progress. It starts out from the beginning of the series and goes up the Enies Lobby arc where the 1st amv takes place. Like an AMV recap you know :P
