Default Lets talk about the current state of the Racing MMOs

Lets talk about the current state of the Racing MMOs.

What Racing MMOs have you played? Are you playing any? Wich one gave you the most entertainment for your time? How long did your experience last? Why did you quit? How was the cash shop influence over the competitiveness on actual racing? Anything worth mentioning?

Ive played Drift City a few years ago, had a great time. A bit of problem with huv grinding, net suspenders, proxies and multilogging... but very worth of my time. The car customization allowed me to export to the game anything I created or... most likelly copied. It was fun, your own car looked how you wanted, provided it wasnt anything offensive... well sometimes it could become offensive if you crypted parts of a puzzle and then after it passed the human filter you would mix and match it into something offensive... but, it was awesome. Too much lag, too much grind, slow updates, bad customer support, cash shop $300-500 for decent top competition gear.

Recently I played RayCitySea, same deal, it was actually more entertaining than Drift City due to the whole car strafing/ car jumping/double jumping, car buffing skills, and the crafting system, variety in gameplay due to dozens of different quests, town felt very alive, grouping that was really advantageous for multiboxing farming. Cash shop didnt affect the game competition at all. "PVP" Races were a bit lack luster I admit.

Is there something out there that is a Racing MMO? Anything on the makes? Any new server or publisher?

Need for Speed World is not a Racing MMO, it didnt last a 2 days for me in the beta, very pathetic attempt by EA...

I played Motor City Online. It's the only one I've ever played, and I did have quite a lot of fun with it. I didn't really quit, EA just ended up shutting it down.

Was curious about NFS World, but then I watched a review of it on Gametrailers, and it looked pretty bad.

I've never been into the realistic driving games. Mainly because in London, UK, you would probably kill yourself about the junk driving that goes on before you even entered your vehicle. I haven't even got into traffic, congestion charges, bus lanes, road works and the ever loved cyclist.

Drift City was the only other racing MMO I really got into. I could have gone on but was rather lazy to continue to pursue my Mustang. We musn't forget other types of racing too along the lines of snowboarding and free-running.

All I can say right now is... Bring back Kart Rider. One of the few racing games I would gladly get around an IP block or even attempt to play the foreign version. (If only I remembered the login... xD)

i like drift city, i don't HUV though except for rushtime, the only time i did was during ijji's summer event for the letters because they where selling for a lot when the event came out so i made a killing

i just like to do solo patrol mostly with a side of RT and some Undercity every once in awhile, deliveries are fun too if you get one with a interesting route (tricky corners are the best)

im not a fan of HUV at all, its okay in it self, but the way people do it going up and down a straight road over and over in oros makes me want to puke, no wonder people would get bored leveling like that

im almost level 67 in ijji drift city and i have not even touched the quest since i got to oros and i only finished the quest in cras because i got to a level where i couldn't patrol cras anymore unfortunately, and i would never say that drift city has been a grind for me not even in the least bit, i had fun building up my money and upgrading my parts getting new cars and getting better at driving/routes and the levels just went up

needless to say im getting ready for the gamescampus release of drift city in a few days and transferring my ijji character over, the new city is probably what im looking forward too the most, i don't know about the new parts or upgrade system yet so i will have to wait and see about that (sidenote really wish gamecampus had a direct download of their client, I HATE PANDO MEDIA "BOOSTER"...GRRR ill have to clean it off my comp AGAIN after the client download finishes)

    about project torque

i had a bit of fun on project torque before it shut down, its a shame really that there's not some kind of offline mode (that i know of) because all the singleplayer stuff you could do was awesome enough even without multiplayer racing

Need for speed was a joke.
I make my guy drive my car go against people who had statistically better cars, but they are bad.. I would just lag slam them and win.

Racing MMOS can never work. Simply due to if someone has a steering wheel they will be better at it then person with controller or keyboard.

I played drift city too, it was very fun and I used my own soundtrack too. I tried torque but my computer cannot handle it before.

Also waiting for kart rider again, (what happened? I remember playing in beta) I heard people are waiting for this game like the second coming of Jesus

yeah one of my favorite things is listing to music while im playing/driving, also its fun hunting down new tracks and finding new artist/remixes ect that i want to add to my various collections that i use while im playing drift city

about kart rider, back when kart rider was with nexon i was not really into racers so i didn't play it much sadly, i think the super high skill level may of scared me away, i saw a video of a korean dude crying on youtube cause he lost at one of those e-sports tournaments and i was like "MAAAAN" kart rider is rough

and NFWO or whatever it is just kind of blowed when i played it, running from the cops was the most fun to me, it performed pretty badly on my comp in general

Drift City was awesome but the problem with racing games is that they never offer much new things other than basic racing and if you can get an NFS online,it will most likely beat out any MMO.

Ijji.com dropped Drift City. Now its with GameCampus.

Everyone who played Drift City for years and spend hundreds of dollars on equipment, will lose all their in-game money and items. Everyone lost everything... except their character name/level.

Not only that, people will be able to transfer what is left, if they want, on november 1st 2010, and those will be PUT sit nicely together on the SECOND server. To be considered second tiered players.

The main server will start fresh. Everyone from zero, no items, no levels, nothing. Grind everything again!

No idea wich countries will be able to play it, or what game updates will come. They said something about revamping the item system to make them more powerfull... this one would be the third equipment system change.

MMOfying the equipment on the racing MMO so that it causes effect and they have a cash shop healthy game.

No news on RayCity having a US server with US latency.

Anyway, everybody who gave their lifes for Drift City got ijjied.

i didn't know about there being 2 severs, if possible i will just do the transfer then maybe just reroll on the 1st server if its more popular, getting all my parts again is going to take long either way, and it will be fun to do all the cities again and me being 100 times better at driving helps too

i never spent money on drift city thankfully, i don't race in the battlezone much on dc cause my parts and my racing skills are both not good enough, i have a higher chance of finding someone with similar car speed and skill level out on the streets then i do in the battlezone (and maybe ill "race" those people in on the street/mountain or in the battlezone if they want but not some random dude that races all day and his car>mine by a lot, maybe when i get better parts ill try to race more)

but at least they have "real match" mode for people that don't use cash shop that want a fair race

but you can get by for free in DC as long as you play long enough and play wisely, bur you probably wont be winning tons of races, i don't know im still a noob about racing on dc

What are the MMO's elements of trackmania?

I take it that you think that just because its online, it makes it an MMO. If its that, then its ok, dont need to post here anymore.

All the players that didnt had an account on Drift City knowing that the second server is the place where the veterans with their high level characters and their v9 car collections are will play on Server 1.

The game company administrating the game will know treat server 1 from server 2 differently.

But after a while, both server 1 and server 2 will have high level people, so they might just merge both server populations AND ECONOMIES.

Today is the day to get the drift city accounts transfered from ijji to gamecampus.
