F2P cash shop discussion

well hello people heres how I think cash shops should be done in F2P games. dun worry its a random discussion bout cash shops so everyone (except trolls) who played a free mmo is allowed.


I think cash shops should:
- have over powering items as long as they have been in the game for a period of 6 months or MORE (not less) or not at all

-any item that has an effect on the PvE and PvP should be made avialable ingame before. examples of this are:
~gear (SHOULDN'T EVEN BE THERE)
~upgrades for gear/weapons/etc (like stuff you find farming)

-not have lotteries that feature new items existing items are fine

add yours, try not to flame others and remember this is for fun (so dont kill it)

Yes?

Why would I pay for a free to play game? The only reason a game should have a cash shop is to make their player character look different.

Unless the game is like DDO, where you have the option to pay to unlock classes and campaigns, but the meat of the game is completely free.

If the game only offered cosmetics, then the equipment everyone has should be balanced.
Besides, who doesn't like a cool looking character?

all i want in a cash shop is self benefit items

double experience, cosmetics, double drop rate, added inventory, gambling boxes (like maplestory gachapon), etc

any equips or items that give you a physical advantage over another player ruins it for me

If the CS had a way of making your character look unique (cosmetics), it will always work.

Also, if gear in the CS had bonuses that do not influence any type of outcome related to PvP, that would be great too. Some examples would be... bonus to loot find, bonus to movement speed, increased inventory slots, or even bonus to critical creation in crafting would be ideal.

With consumables like pots, scrolls, and such, they should not influence the outcome of any type of PvP combat.

Also, renting or selling items of a permanent nature should be an option. 24 hours, 1 week, 1 month, 3 month or permanent can be an ideal way to gain profit.

Also, like some F2P MMORPGs (LoTRO & DDO), you should have a way to allow the players to generate CS currency. At a rate very similar to the mentioned MMORPGs. Any slower or faster and it can ruin the CS model.

Can't say I've seen many successful CS, The only ones I've seen flourish were ones that sold cosmetics and ones that only effected pve, anything that gives mats or anyshit like that for weapons armor and etc. are usually gamebreaking.

I am the only who cares is cash shop money is tradable? I dont care what goes into a cash shop as long as you can buy cs stuff off other players,with in-game gold.

I have never spent anything in a cash shop,nothing. I dont mind grinding abit more,rather than spend money,but thats just me.

I think the F2P model is stupid. I think all games should be B2P, that way the crappy games would fall to the wayside.

Anyways, as for cash shops in a F2P game, I don't mind as long as

1. Mostly cosmetics/vanity items

2.Not stupidly overpriced or overpowered

3.Everything is tradeable

i want cosmetics, items that can increase warehouse slots alot, exp items to exp rate

dont want cashshop only mounts, items that can increase armor status, overpowering items also dont want overpriced cashshop these stuff ruins games for me alot
