    Default New Pandora Saga gathering

Pandora Saga is finally reopening with a more competent publisher Atlus Online. CB starts December 16th. Let's start getting a group together.

I might be joining Empire this time around instead of Union because I like the desert landscapes that they get on their maps.

Though the game was slow paced, I liked it a lot. I will be playing as well.

It really isn't too old. It's tons of fun, but you pretty much need a party to level later on.

this game is dead overseas. It has unbalanced classes. They will add armor and wapons in cs. The music makes you feel jump from a cliff.
bad bad game. It should have died long ago, but i guess some morrons still have enough money to keep it going.

Depends on what you like in an mmorpg. It is certainly grindy but in a good way because there is no soloability after the newbie lvls. It is designed so that you have a firm bond with the other players in your nation, they will know your name and you won't feel like random guy running around and you in turn will get to know them.

You don't choose your nation when you make your character, instead you have to physically go to one of the nation capitals to join. It is a long and perilous road so get a party!

If you spend some time in the game you will notice some of the very unique aspects in it. There are four generic classes to start out with which divide into 2 separate classes each... all things we've seen before right? But the 8 divisions each further divide during the 2nd job transfer to make 16 total classes. This leads to a lot of specificity, example: healers and buffers are separate classes. Buffers won't heal as well as healers and don't get some higher heal proficiency heal spells while heals won't buff as well as buffers and don't get some higher buff proficiency buff spells.

You can therefore really choose a class that suits perfectly your playstyle and what you like doing. I like strategic debuffing but don't care about damage, I'd rather incapacitate and let my party handle the killing. There is a class that focuses only on debuffing and does very little damage, which makes me happy Most mmorpgs don't have that degree of specificity, I think.

The skill acquisition system is also really interesting. Each class doesn't have a separate skill tree. There are a number of skill sets (eg. Buff set and Heal set) and each class has separate highest possible max proficiency values in in each skill set. In order to acquire a skill in a skill set you need to get a certain max proficiency lvl in that particular skill set. You distribute skill points to increase your max proficiency. Max proficiency is different from actual proficiency. Actual proficiency increases gradually. Casters' actual proficiency in a skill set increases as they use spells in that skill set, for melee classes it increases if they use skills in the skill set or if they use the weapon type that is associated with that skill set. Actual proficiency plays into the formulas for the skills in the skill set. Whew! it really isn't as complicated as it sounds, just complicated to explain.

Because you have a very limited amount of skill points and all classes small max possible proficiencies in other skill sets that are not their speciality it leads to a lot of customization potential. There is also stat distribution, similar to the stat distribution in RO (in that as the stat gets higher you need more stat points to increase it).

So yeah, it really depends on what you like in an mmorpg. Most mmorpgs nowadays have so little customization, this game is a refreshing change.

This game is popular in Japan, the original version. The malaysian version failed because the terrible publisher hasn't done an update... ever and they let bugs run rampant.

The music is good in my opinion... depends on the map. The cs even in the terrible malaysian version was way more balanced than a majority of games.

Played this eons ago in closed beta as a healer, got to 20ish plus, almost 30 where the grind was terrible. Ten hours or more in a party grinding spiders to level. Luring too many mobs would cause the whole party to wipe. That said I'm gonna give this another try, hopefully the atlus version will be more populated and the cash shop less imba.

The only plus point about the game imo was people were forced to party. The end of cb was cool too, with nation wars. I was in kingdom, maybe I'll go union this time.

Dunno what you talkin about, the music is nice, lol. Especially when you get in battle.

But I do hope they change the cash shop weapons and accessory bit. =/

sounds very nice.. i was ffxi player.. i may enjoy this.
but i can see its going to fail since NA player is fed up with easy solo mode /w aoe skill/potion spam.

im not sure how classes are, if u cant change jobs.. i expect there will be shortage on specific roles then people just quit >.>

edit: hows pve contents? is this pvp based?

You really know how to sell the game. I will try it once it comes out. Didn't get to try the older version, so I don't have any bad experiences... yet.

Atlus is a pretty competent publisher, so I suspect that even if they keep equipment in the CS they'll do a much better job of making better equipment findable through PvP or field bosses or some such thing.

At any rate, I'll definitely be playing again (likely will name myself Seeric since I am remarkably unoriginal). Now I just need to decide if I want to make my mage Charm-based or go with that weird Dark strength-based 'dark knight/meleemancer' build I tried near the end of CB last time...

Also, I think we should decide if we're going to pick a nation now or just go with whatever nation seems the least popular like last time.

    Healers are OP

If a party has two well built healers they are very hard to defeat unless you have people to silence or sleep or otherwise crowd control them. If you are a healer be prepared to have an army of knights protecting you at all times because you will be targetted first. Also, mages will stand next to you and spam detect everywhere you go so you will feel special .

Which brings me to my next point, there is all party pvp with one caviat. Agents from other nations (they have stealth) tend to come and try to gank your mage or healer and run away with some cheap honor. Most of the time they fail though...

I saw some videos of that on Youtube. "Assassins" with cheap stealth and back attacks. I'm hoping there's a spell or skill that removes stealth or something.

Also, I lol'd at this, so annoying:

Sweet. Firestorm also has somewhat of a large casting time, I'm guessing they aren't meant to be spammed during wars.

In some RvR videos I saw a lot of AoE spells that looked like brown puddles on the ground, what was that? There were a lot of them pretty much everywhere.

Ah yes, one of the most horrifying spells of them all, the deaded swamp/mud. That spell is one of the higher lvl debuff proficiency spells for darkroars. Generally only the debuff specializing darkroars and jesters get it. 1. It lowers movement speed while you are in it (amount of movement speed reduction is based on the build of the darkroar), 2. dispels your speed buff and 3. poisons you.

Speed is very essential in this game. If your speed buff is dispelled you cannot 1. catch up to the enemy if they are running away, 2. you cannot run away. If your party happens to be losing a fight and you don't have your speed buff you are basically dead. One of the main roles of archers is to give everyone speed buffs.

Hopefully they didn't fix the spider exploits . Takes forever to level in this game without exploiting spiders.

Although I may not play long if they keep all those items in the cash shop. The items themselves are very average but when they get upgraded past a certain point they get a huge boost in stats.
