Well, depends what you mean by metal honestly. Metal like Metallica, or Metal like The Word Alive/TDWP?
Lmao, I didn't know there was a fake named metal genre for poser scene kids.
I'll google Metal Meshuggah music though and see what I get(like what other bands relate)

Reputation: 292Well "cheesy" would be diferent to everyone.
Is this cheesy to you?
Try listening part way through them if you can.
Galneryus is all over the place with their music so you may like some songs and not so much others.
I myself usually like only a few songs from each band I listen to but there are exceptions.
The audio quality is a bit low for most of the songs but it's just an example.
Anyway, check out Vital Remains, Into Eternity, Bloodbath, Paths of Possession, and Destroy Destroy Destroy. The last guys might not fit your definition of extreme metal, but they're worth a listen.
Also, what type of power metal do you consider cheesy? Cause I live and breathe that shit. And yeah, Irony, Galneryus is pretty cheesy.

Reputation: 218There's hardly any singing in screamo, and virtually none in death metal.
And cheesyness is easy to determine. Typically, the less Americanized they are, the more cheesy the music is, so, by that logic: Iced Earth - not cheesy, HammerFall - cheesy, Holy Grail - not cheesy, Edguy - damn cheesy, Savatage - not cheesy, Rhapsody of Fire - dangerously cheesy.
Of course, there are some exceptions. Most notably for the American side; Manowar. For the European side; Blind Guardian.

Reputation: 292Depends on how you phrase your post and the meaning.
Since you said "Americanized" you left out things like Japanese, German, Spanish etc. etc.
Also that is still your opinion.
A certain culture/country may like a particular genre or tune more than another but that does not stop that particular country from having people in it that produce the music you describe.
You are coming up with your own definition of cheesy and that is why it is an opinion.
Reputation: 218Word, I already mentioned I forgot he said deathcore, what with extreme metal and whatnot.
I said "Americanized" because America is the foremost producer of speed and thrash-influenced power metal. Is that so difficult to understand? How is that even my opinion? That's a fact.
And your last statement is moot, because I never claimed otherwise.
Reputation: 233I like Carcass:
Also, Viraemia:
Origin
Spawn of Possession
Hour of Penance
Hate Eternal
Decrepit Birth (highly recommend, can't get enough of them)
Severed Savior
Deeds of Flesh
Odious Mortem
Psycroptic
Suffocation
Unmerciful
Cryptopsy (pre-The Unspoken King)
Fleshgod Apocalypse
Gorgasm
Defeated Sanity
Dying Fetus
Internal Suffering
Viraemia
Visceral Bleeding
Disavowed
I could keep going, but I'd say that's a decent start.
Reputation: 677Well, it's symptomatic, that they sing in English. If you take a Finish band, you can easily see that there is an interest in an international scope, because Finland is partially overcrowded with Metal bands already.
German metal bands sing in English for no real reason, other than the image they want to convey.
So, yea, it's cheesy in a way no other Metal scene is.
Not all German metal bands sing in English.
