Default More and more companies start using PMB?

Alrigth, so im currently sitting here patching League of Legends and never noticed untill now that they seem to have made a deal with Pando Media Booster, same thing that I noticed when I downloaded the LoTRO client.

Why is it that more companies start using this craptastic piece of *beep* software that literally eats your bandwith? As far as I know you can't even adjust the upload rate on the program, I feel like seting kittens on fire whenever I see a company using the software just to steal 30 seconds of my life on uninstalling it again.

    So...why? WHY!? WHYYYYYYYYYYY!?!?!? .

I can understand as much, but at the expense of hogging bandwith, in many cases pretty much all the bandwith from their playerbase? Makes me want to barf.

It's crappy software and I really don't understand why a company would use it.

It's like using Gameguard or something.
    Agreed x100

    I hate, hate, HATE Pando.

    9 times out of 10, I get to 99% and then.........................1 second left......5 seconds left............10 seconds le-ERROR

So can I, my ISP is just fine and never had any issues with it whatsoever, I just dont like the fact that companies start using second rate software to do the dirtywork for them. Especially since some of these games require you to run it to even be able to patch at all.

Thats not what you said in your orginal post.

Seems like your just hating it for no real reason now.

As far as my experience with it, its been great. Never had a problem with it and its not second rate. Using a third party is sometimes cheaper than trying to do things on your own. Its called business. If they get it done cheaper, then so be it.

Business are always trying to find ways to make things cheaper for a bigger profit. If you hate it, then I guess you need to find some other game.

It's, by default, set not to start with Windows. And it doesn't start up when I open LOTRO (except for patching it would seem). When PMB is running, I suffer little to no slowdown, even on my crappy connection.

So I can't find any reason to complain, it won't even ninja my bandwidth because it doesn't randomly start.

    I wouldnt say its BS.

Before LoTRO started to use it, I was getting an avg of 500 kb/s for patching. Now I get anywhere from 2 to 4 mb/s.

Reason is most likely because they set a bandwidth cap using their old download system, whereas with panda media booster running like BT, there is no cap. The only limit is how fast your internet is.

Not much scenarios where your downloadspeed is at 100kbps when you're able to hit up to 6mbps, right?

Lulz, I still remember all the flaming that went on in the Nexon forum when they first released the PMB downloader for DFO. Good Times man, Good Times~

PMB used to give me issues years ago, but it's gotten a lot better over the years.

Well my download speed from My country websites is around 10mb/s (got max 14mb/s through DC++) but from foreign webs around 100kb/s but through some torrents I also get ~6mb/s speed , and I'm not lying or else I wouldn't have posted this in the 1st place >_>

I used to hate it at first. Now it's not so bad. Just an issue of going into the taskmanager to shut it off after downloading. Basically the same as bittorrents. Cept people don't know they are uploading. Could be the reason why some people lag in vindictus.

On the plus side getting games like this lets you download as fast as if it was torrented.

Well atleast with bittorrent you can just turn it off from the taskbar without having to go into the task manager. >_>
