    let me put evangelion simply.
    it makes no god damn sense.
    it has the whinest main character in any show ever. not to mention he beats off on a chick in a coma.
    but the soundtrack is really good.
    some of the battles are pretty bad *** as well.
    watch it for those.

    That was the original series, Werewolf. During Rebuild 2.0, Shinji pretty much turns into Simon from Gurren Lagann. The awesome Simon. Rebuild 1.0 is pretty much a retelling of the first.. like 5 episodes or so. Rebuild 2.0 covers up to like Episode 19, and does it's own thing for most of the time.

    Shinji is one of the most realistic characters out there, try to keep in mind that he's a 14 year old boy that is thrown into all of that. There's no way his character could possibly annoy me. What is there to be annoyed by? The fact that he is a very accurate portrayal of a boy?

    And while the ending for the TV series can be unsatisfying for some people, the movie "End of Evangelion" is incredible and does the anime a great justice.

    Also, you're supposed to watch it for its amazing depth of characterization.

    The Rebuild movies are following an alternate story with new characters. If you are looking for a summary of the series, it's not a good choice. You would have to watch both.

    The series are indeed confusing since they aren't your typical shounen crap with ninjas and stuff. It's more of a psychological journey of the main character's mind with some random religious symbolism thrown in there for shock value.
