Can someone who has played both before give me like a pros vs cons for each? I'm trying to decide which one I should play, but I don't want to waste like 20 hours on a game just to realize I don't like it.

Reputation: 167I dont know anything about Allods, but I know a lot about LoTRO.
If you want to play a good MMORPG with great PvE, epics storylines, one of the greatest crafting systems, great community, and lot of content, then I suggest LoTRO. Tomorrow, there will be a patch/update that will give quite a bit of content to the F2P/Premium members.
If you decide to play it, you can holler at me in game for any question you have. If I am not around, just ask in the /advice channel. You will find a lot of helpful players.
As for population, Brandywine is the most populated server. My home server is Silverlode and its quite populated with low, medium, and high level characters.
Hope to see you in game.

allods have pvp not like LotRo , allodss better IMO the combat is more fluid , LOTRo feels single player

How does fluidity relate to single/multiplayer?
I am sorry, but Allod's storyline is all over the place. LoTRO storyline is quite fluid. Where the main storyline of the game moves you along to the final battle, the side stories allows you to assist others and give them hope in a dismal time of the history of Middle Earth.
Now lets get to this so-called single player bit. Although there is a lot of solo quests, the game rotates around creating a fellowship/kinship. In key points of the storyline and side quests, you do need the assistance of a fellowship (party), to continue on.
You are right about the PvP. LoTRO is mainly PvE, but the PvMP (PvP) is quite fun. Its not your typical PvP, but it gives you the chance to play a portion of the lore from the POV of the creeps.
From what I see of your post, you really have not played LoTRO. All you noticed is that it does not have PvP, so its not your cup of tea.
But as for the OP's cup... LoTRO is the hot herbal drink he is looking for. He has no interest in PvP.
ONE MORE THING!
Try to create a proper argument.
For those who worry about not making TP fast enough, run through the quests and levels like you normally would up to about lvl 25, without back tracking to complete some of the others quests/deeds from the other low level regions. Once you reach about 25, go back and do the quests/deeds for those low level regions. You will find that doing this, you will be a good level to run through the low levels and complete the deeds and quest with a fast pace and gain quite a bit of TP in the process.
Also, if you get in a spot where you need to level before continuing... do some skirmishes or dungeon instances (like Great Barrows). They are a good source of XP, and the token you collect along the way can be traded for some mats for crafting. I wouldnt trade them in for gear. Crafted gear is much better than what you can get from and vendor or drop (minus legendary gear).
Tomorrow's patch will give the players a new set of quests (tasks). This will help the F2P and Premium players more the the VIP (P2P) players.
Reputation: 51LOTRO all the way. Trust meh :P
Reputation: 38yeah, it has a pvpallods have pvp not like LotRo
a pvp where every cash shop ***** will one shot the minute you see them
Oh look another X Game vs Y Game thread
Not impressed. >=(
Reputation: 21I would choose Allods, played them both and I find Allods better with more unique features like astral ships and exploring the astral, very cool PvE stuff
Some Stories Are Just Way Better In My Head!
How is competetion played out between players in LOTRO? Is there some sort of economic, political or regional competetion between players to compensate the PvP for players who like LOTRO but also would like to compete with others?
Thanks in advance.
Reputation: 167There are duels and Monsterplay. Duels is your typical feature found in most MMORPGs. Monsterplay is where the PvP (PvMP) happens.
If I remember correctly, you can start monsterplay at lvl 45 with your Freep (toon) or you can join in with the monsters (Creep) on your character select screen.
Both have quests, deeds, and objectives you can do to gain things that improve you playability of your Freep or Creep.
Here's the thing. You can only play a creep on a single map (Ettenmoors I think). The reason being is that if the PvP was allowed in the open world of Middle Earth, it can break the storyline of the trilogy. ME and Junior refuses for the storyline to be broken. I agree with that.
I do wish that ICE will be able to find a developer for an actual Middle Earth MMORPG. Post trilogy... It would make for a better MMORPG.
Allods: starts cool, gets boring fast
LOTRO: starts boring, gets cool later (probably, played it for like 2 hours before uninstalling)
But I didn't like any of these.
