Isn't this like the basic thing for a telephone? You kids with your uber-saw phones.

I push a certain button on my cellphone, and it kills a man.

Reputation: 372It's a bit of a workabout, but I have a possible solution.
Most cellphones can put custom ringtones to your different contacts.
So you just give actual ringtones to the ones you want to hear, while omitting ringtones to the ones you don't want to hear. If there is no silent, no-sound ringtone, just make a ringtone(wav/mp3/midi that doesn't contain any sounds), and assign it to the people you don't want to hear.
EDIT: Damn, I was too late.

Reputation: 1151Haha, yeah...thats the trouble though, I just don't want to hear them at night, ya know? I don't wanna have to switch my customized ringtones daily
There should be some kind of temporary setting for this.

Reputation: 15Wow, I'm impressed by that fact that your phone DOESN'T have that feature. It almost seems like a must have in phones.
I don't know how old your phone is, but if what your getting is a brand spanking new phone, I wouldn't worry about it.
Reputation: 154The easiest solution I can think of:
Tell Persons A, B, and D not to send you stuff in the middle of the night (except in case of emergency), or you'll punch them in the face.![]()
Reputation: 1151Eh, the phone I have now is really crappy. I only originally got it for using texts, nothing else...then my plan changed and for $5 more, I could get unlimited internet and 300 minutes
Now I have to get a new phone haha. It'll be that Samsung Intercept I mentioned.
Reputation: 366Nokia all the way. Best phone ever.
I got Nokia E51 for 2 years now and I cannot complain.
Previously used Nokia 6233 and served me well for 4-5 years. Was forced to change though to a little more "trendy" phone and some vital features :P

i have the droid eris and it has a feature to stop calls from certain people at certain times
i have everyone on silent midnight to 5am but family or other important calls i don't want to miss
I can do this with my palm pre,
I can set custom ringtones or vibrates for every contact in my phone. There are even ways to set up modes, so say if its charging up, it will automatically set the people you hate getting texts from to silent or vibrate...or at least I think you can, I'm too lazy to set most of those up.
