I understand that these words were of an origin in which they were created to insult and degrade people. I understand if people use it as a nickname, you could take offense, but really, behind it, if there's no racial motive or hate, is there any crime coming from it? Certainly these words were (and still are) used to degrade people, but should you really hate the people that have no malicious intent? For example, "stupid *****" could be used to insult someone by today's modern speech. It'd be very crude and offensive, but if a friend said it to you while you were both laughing and joking about stuff, you wouldn't take offense now, would you?
