What engine are you using?

If it is a custom engine, did you start with a pre-existing open sourced engine?

I used to make 2D orpgs when I was younger, been itching to get back into it.

See, grammar goes a long way, makes you seem like you can really make an MMO. Otherwise your entry NPC will say this:

"Welcome to erymnia a land of swords and sorcery and an expanse world me and other npcs will help to get started"

Well i was in an hurry when i wrote this so the grammar wasnt any good. By the way i'm an 13 yo from sweden so dont complain about the english. But i am pretty good at programming and i dont know what engine to use to create the game yet... But i am thinking about Realm Crafter. :P

Choose the Engine first, then see what you can do with it.

my idea is try to research for an epic story before making a game so that you have a theme for it.

a mmorpg is too big. You will fail with your project..perhaps you will start
but than you will stop working because its just a dream. We had many people
allready here who told us that they gonna make a new mmorpg and ive never saw news
at their page or at the thread. Sure its nice to think about it "my own
mmorpg woot" but in the end...if you dont have a company who get paid or
other things...you will NEVER finish a mmorg that is good + 3D
