Default Do i have to play Mass Effect to play Mass Effect 2?

    Almost done dragon age.

    so my question is

Do i have to play Mass Effect to play Mass Effect 2?

Mass effect 2 seems visually more appealing.
It just seems better than mass effect 1.

    You don't have to, no.

I recommend that you do, but you're not forced to. D:

you don't need to, but I would. You'll be able to relate more to the characters, and the overarching story. and also your choices in me1 do affect the story in the sequel, to a certain degree. oh, and finally, if you do like me, and get the extreme power gamer achievement, you get some sort of perk.

Yes, you really should. It's like watching the Empire Strikes Back without watching A New Hope. You'll still get the story, but c'mon.

You don't have to but it helps, and if you enjoy Mass Effect 2 and then want to play Mass Effect 1, its kind of hard to go back to the original system.

Thanks, and how is mass effect 1 or two compared to dragon age?
I liked dragon age but the story dragged on for a while.

does the story drag on for mass effect 1 / 2 like that too?

EDIT: nvm i dont think i'll even like mass effect.

Yeah, I never played the first one and I was blown away with ME2.

The engine is better in some places but is worse in others and not much of an improvement at all.

But the PC and 360 version is better, because not being able to import your character over is probably the biggest downgrade a mass effect game could have.

I played the first one and loved it. Shit is god damned great. IMO, ME2 is a letdown compared to the first. There are zero weapon choices, zero armour choices and the "levelling" is scripted crap. It's a lot more restricted than the first.

That will help bridge some gap, and ME2 also helps considerably with its extensive in-game database that will get you up to speed on the Mass Effect Universe. (Who the Krogan are, Saren - Protheans, Reapers etc)

If you have a pretty decent machine pick the game up on PC and she'll look phenomenal.
70 posts and already an admin. I think that's a record. Congratulations.

Anyway on topic, no, you don't. I thought the same thing, but I was able to get on just fine. Didn't end up likin' the game though.
