I'unno if you guys have these stores where you live, but there's two in my city and they're both filled with cocky, arrogant douchebags who think they're the next Hendrix. >_>
EDIT: I would much rather shop at Jam-Mart.

Dammit. As soon as I saw this thread I got all excited and whatnot with plans to say "You should shop at Jam-Mart." But you ruined it.
Not cool, man. Not cool.
Reputation: 101I only have John's Music and Long & McQuade.
The owners of John's is a friend of my Great Uncle. Drives a Baracuda. Pretty good guy.
Yeah, least they don't charge double what the guitar is worth like here in Australia.
Haven't been to one since I moved from California and god damn am I glad, I remember the few times I was forced to go and I hated it. What you said was right, I remember I thought about buying a guitar from there but I went and ended up getting kicked out because I outsmarted the manager when it came to information about old rock bands. Personally, you'd have better luck just buying one of those piece of shit plastic toy guitars than actually go to this place.
we have long and mcquade. my next door neighbour from when I used to live with my mom works at one, so that's cool.
Reminds me of:
I live my a music school so there are some pretty nice music shops around here. Although I couldn't even begin to think about affording 110% of the stuff that they sell![]()
Reputation: 218Toronto's being taken over by a legion of dumb teenagers who keep raving about the latest shitty core band, so everytime I go to Long & McQuade or Steve's Music all I hear are continual breakdowns. There'll be like four groups of kids just standing around playing pseudo-syncopated breakdowns on the guitars and you can't even tell one from the other because none of them can play in anything other than 4/4 time.
The people in the shops around here are usually pretty nice, but I have to go to the Guitar Center in the city this Thursday to pick up an acoustic I ordered, I plan on grabbing my shit and getting out of there ASAP.
I like going into Guitar Center and acting like I'm buying my first guitar, just to see what cruddy guitar they'll try to sell me I'll keep up the act and make it seem like I'm going to buy it then flip it around on them.
Reputation: 15Sounds like my Gamestop. The manager there is the biggest tool ever. One month you go in there to buy a game and he bashes it, the next he's talking about how amazing it is. Him and one of his little "minions" there love to make fun of customers too, which is sometimes sorta amusing to watch but it's stupid that they allow such dicks to even get positions, let alone manager, there.
Guitar center is shit because the salespeople aren't musicians themselves. They always try to sell me line6 bullshit everytime and I watched them sucker this one guy into buying a spider 3. And whether it be a customer or salesman there's always that douche you talk to who pulls that "gibson is best shit"
the tornado of souls solo does wonders against core kids pg6. And douchebag status
Reputation: 133I just want to find a place to get my TERMINATOR electric guitar tuned and cleaned without having some ****** give me some bullshit on how he doesn't like this type of guitar or mocking me for not knowing how to fix shit.
Reputation: 101I wasn't actually trying to make any sort of argument with my example. I just thought it was kind of funny.
