Yeah I figured Orange Range became J-Rap after that one dude left and their newer stuff is just kinda meh... I like Sambomaster though, bands pretty good with their songs, it's not metal, but it's still pretty good.![]()
Anyone?
Reputation: 372I thought Orange Range was pretty much always rap? Maybe their two first singles or so were kinda new punk-ish, but I can't recall, never liked Orange Range in any case.
Sambomaster is great. Light, funky, and upbeat. Great music during the summer.
Which reminds me, I need to go to Tsutaya and rent me some more music before I go back to Norway
I love the fact that you can rent CD's here, rip em and be done with it - Unlike in most other countries where it's either pirate or buy.

Reputation: 372Let me ask you a question:
Did I quote you anywhere? No - so why do you assume I was aiming this at you particularly? In fact, I wasn't.
Notice how I never criticized this. I never said it was bad using anime as a gateway portal into new music - I said, if you only listen to an OP or EP here and there, it's completely misleading to speak as if you like "the genre"(especially, if you make it sound like VK=Japanese music) - In the same way it's misleading to say you listen to rap, if the only rap you listen to is the two most recent singles of Eminem.
Obviously, if you took it a step further, and listen to more than this, my post does not apply to you - In which case, there is no reason for you to get all defensive about it.
I'm not uptight about it, you are. Even though my post, if we go by what you write here, doesn't apply to it at all, you still manage to fail completely at comprehending it and run off on a tangent simply because you somehow felt my post was some sort of insult aimed at solely at you.
On a side note though, this really reinforces my point:
If the only way a persons finds out about something is through some major outlet, and only has superficial knowledge about a subject, it would be misleading to speak as if that person somehow is familiar with the subject.
If I said I listen to metal(which to a degree I do), I'd still fall completely short compared to people like PG6, which is why I don't say it like that. Although I like some metal bands, I couldn't name more than 5-6 at the top of my head(that I actually listen to).
Again, did you even read my post?
I clearly state that there is no accounting for taste, and that my taste is just as "messes up"(if one can say such a thing) as oneone elses.
I'm not trying to change your taste, and if you think I am, I suggest you either re-read my post, or ask yourself why you have such a hard time seeing my post for what it is.
I find it ironic that you say you don't care however, when you made the post you did, where you not only go off on a tangent, you go off on a tangent that is completely irrelevant because you're responding to things I never said nor implied. This suggest the opposite.
My point is simply, that being a fan, or how you phrase your interest in something, is puts the basis for how people view you in that field - That being the case, going "well, I have my own definition", isn't going to get you anywhere(unless you specify your stance beforehand).
I simply said that I dislike people who go about saying they dig Japanese music, just because they put a couple of anime themes on their Ipod.
That's like saying you like Norwegian music just because you're heard a song or two of Aha. It just doesn't make sense, because in all other cases, you'd never say stuff like that.
We don't go "I really like cooking" when all we know is how to heat frozen pizzas, and make pancakes - Or, "I like cars", because your friend owns a Porsche.

Reputation: 482I'm just saying what's the point of even bringing all that up when the only thing really important is listing your favorite J rock artists? Why even bring up all the other stuff in the first place? Does it really matter? I admit it did kind of sound like you were referring to me, but I guess that was just me. What was your reasoning for saying it at all then if it doesn't apply to me? Someone else then? Who? Let's explore that.
I don't know too many people who just listen to the OP's and ED's of anime shows thinking they like some J Rock and know a thing or two about it which made me wonder why you think people do. I honestly do not know anyone like that. Everyone I know has found a song they like, then dled all the music from that artist and listened to it. Isn't that what people normally do?
And no man I really just don't care, I just listen to a lot of music and J Rock is a nice change of pace once in a while. I'm really just bored. I'm trying to figure out why you felt the need to point that out though.
Reputation: 482It kinda sounds like you are tired of people labeling a particular brand of music with the popular garbage and I get you on that. I hate it when people call Lil Wayne's music so creative, it makes me want to cringe. But instead of trying to crack on those artists and just add to the hate that fuels the fire even more, why not just focus on introducing people to other artists? It's easier to criticize than open eyes. I try but it just get me far saying that the artist people listen to today on the radio and TV mostly suck, they don't want to hear that.
Oh yeah, one of the more mainstream Japanese bands I like:
Dragon Ash
They're pretty awrightt.

Buzz Songs
Lily of Da Valley

Reputation: 218I'm not entirely sure I made fun of the genre at all, considering I posted three different Japanese metal bands. I think, Kashis, you should pay more attention to whom you point the finger at.Originally Posted by Kashis
I know, ettore and claudio live would be amazing, then going drinkin after show would be cool haha.. But they're working with that pro skater Elliot Sloan (says on his site). His solo stuff is very gothenburg metalish. Last time I checked claudio said they were still demoing songs. BSC has had ettore and DM on their top friends list for years and they got signed to Coroner Records so maybe they'll do a song featuring him most likely.

Reputation: 218I didn't say "math rock" I said mathcore. You would think so. Evidently, you have no concept of progressive metal, or those progressive metal bands who interpolate jazz fusion elements (like Cynic), or utilize extremely odd-metering/time signatures (like Meshuggah).its a combination of jazz and progressive rock (its instrumentation is far more impressive then metal) so nice try.Hardcore pits and shows are not more intense because they don't have a barrier. For one thing, only the bigger metal shows have barriers because they attract more people. I have been to lots of shows that didn't have barriers, for instance: Cynic, Intronaut, Dysrhythmia, Dark Tranquillity I believe, probably others but I've just been to so many shows I forget these things. For another, depending on the genre of metal, shows can result in people passing out or being trampled on, or getting seriously injured. Or someone crazy will be in attendance and kill the lead guitarist. I've never heard of that happening at a hardcore show. But I'm glad you can tell the difference between hardcore and metal, because so few people these days can. And it's really frustrating.I consider hardcore punk drastically different then metal music. So nice try. Hardcore pits/shows are way more intense then those of a metal show when you have no barrier and can stage dive. I thought you should know what you're bashing before you actually go about doing so.
And it's not like I hate you, or dislike you, I just don't like your music.Still love you pg6 I just hate the fact that you shove metal into everyones faces and shut down everyones taste. It's just music.
Reputation: 14My hearing isn't wrong. What I meant is it just sounds all so typical bland and boring, it doesnt stand out. I thought you should get an idea with what I mean, if you listen to the songs I posted.
We were just showing the kind of music we listen to.
As for the "poppy anime songs" that genre doesn't exist, just shows how stupid your argument is. Same about the part of "3 genre's".
