DEAR GOD PLEASE HELP ME- BSoD/SQUEAL OF DEATH

Hi all,

I've recently started having the "squeal of death" issue while gaming. As in, I will be gaming along, and then I hear a high pitched crackle/squeal from the speakers, and weird artifacts appear across the screen. I then have to manually shut down. Sometimes there is a BSOD showing atimkdag.sys, or ati3duag.dll. Sometimes there is just an 0x8e blue screen. On one occasion I got the page_fault_in_nonpaged_area, and on another occasion I got an error showing: 'an attempt was made to write to a read only file'.

My specs are:
Mobo: ASUS M2N SLI
CPU: AMD Athlon X2 6400+
RAM: 2GB Crucial DDR2-PC800
Video Card: Radeon HD 5750
PSU: Corsair 450w
Onboard sound/networking

Sounds like an issue with your GPU dying.

If you can get the exact code that is displayed on the blue screen it would be easier to know the problem.

As Irony said it's most likely your GPU and unless we have the exact error code, we're pretty much unable to help you.

How hot does your GPU run? Both idle and under load.
