I like the game, but until I can do some dungeon running I won't make a final call.

Reputation: 10meh, im having some lag issues...mostly on rifts
Good game, but not my cup of tea sadly.
Something just isn't there.
Reputation: 65What's funny is, I actually felt much like Yoggoth until yesterday. I took a look, even tried the 4th beta for about 10 minutes, and declared it a Warhammer clone. I realized yesterday I had not been fair to it, so I loaded it back up and guess what? I actually LIKED the game. I'm more surprised than most about how good it actually is so far.
they where fine in beta 4. it never went down except for patch.
now put online 16 new servers and let 10 000 + ppl into the game.
then add 20 new servers on the fly as people login.
ofc there will be some re-tuning and what not.
these last 3 events will be a very stress full test on the servers.
New cinematic video !

Reputation: 15Oh, I wrote that wrong without noticing, my bad.
I was being sarcastic to the guy talking about Rift not being anything new too.
Reputation: 46Too lazy to scroll through things, but is Rift F2P or P2P? I heard some people saying something about Rift was going to be an awesome F2P game but on their site looks like it costs

Reputation: 46IMO, a good p2p mmo needs a lore. (AoC, WoW, Warhammer, etc.) I just watched the beginning intro and lol'd. Something about a king being killed, some dragon power, so they turned to creating rifts, and people died because of it; you become a guardian to save these people? Kings, guardians, dragons, so generic, there are no names used, creating a very unconvincing and bland story. For example, just using WoW (not claiming its a WoW clone), because WoW has lore, dragons actually have names, such as Singragosa, Maylgos, the king has a name, Varian Wyrnn and Garrosh and Thrall. The "lore" of RIFT seems like it was thought out in about 10 minutes or so.
Reputation: 46Dig deeper. There's plenty of lore to be found inside the game. It´s just placed so that it won't get all on your face if you are not interested. The biggest difference probably is that YOU are the center of the lore. YOU saved the world and YOU were resurrected so YOU could save the world AGAIN. 8)

I don't know if this matters for people already in beta but I got mine.

That is a lot of hours. The Planar War Leaves Telara in Chaos!
Trion has announced dates for the sixth Rift™ closed beta event, “Planar War.” The event is scheduled to begin at 10 AM PST Friday, February 4th and end at 10 AM PST Monday, February 7th. During last week’s “Battle of the Ascended” beta players logged 2.4 million hours in game, more than double the amount of time played in the previous event.
In “Planar War,” Telara is left in chaos as the elemental planes force their way into physical reality. Seal any rift and receive planar loot and you could be eligible to win an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 video card. Terms and conditions apply, click here for details. In-Game Prize Packs will be given away to ten select players who complete the objective.
Reputation: 46Yeah too bad the game is just another WoW -clone and will totally fail and burn during the first month into release.
2.4 million on a freaking beta that will be wiped on launch!?!
Reputation: 15FYI, people who call games clone of this or that, thats not what "clone" means so stop saying that cause your dead wrong. Also clone is means pretty much an exact replica of something else, now does WoW have the same class system as Rift?: no, does it have rifts or random open world raid "events"?: as far as I know no, WoW and rift have the same amount of customization?: no., does WoW and rift have the same graphics?: uhhh I dont think so, rift has smooth and you can see each pixel in everything you see in WoW. Now to tell if the game will fail or be success whos knows, I can tell you no one who has been replying on this thread is physic. I could go on wow forums and troll about what I didnt like about it but I wont because I am mature....unlike some people on this thread.
personally i think the concept of the rifts is a really good idea and i'm just counting the days till WoW is adapting it
what i didnt really like was that the first ~10 lvls all of the souls felt the same and they only really started to develop then.
if they'd sell it to you as something like a training and you could get the souls at lvl 10 to decide which more unique abilities you are getting it would be no problem, but it's like: "omg, you can have 3 different souls with super cool abilities!"-> new players are super hyped -> lvl 1-10: uhm ok, everyone needs basically the same core abilities so noone has a disadvantage when he choses an "awkward" soul combination. -> hype dies down since whatever you skill you get the same thing in red, blue or yellow, what feels a bit dull.
it suddenly get's a lot more fun once you can skill your own and "unique" things.
