Get ready rifters, as Trion Worlds has dropped a definitive release date for its forthcoming fantasy MMORPG. That's right, RIFT will be firing on all cylinders round about March 1st in the States (March 4th in Europe). Today's announcement also brings further word on the pre-order program and collector's edition items that we mentioned last week.

Pre-order customers can choose one of three in-game pets and are eligible to jump in and play RIFT a week before the official launch date. The head start period begins February 24th, and all pre-order customers are automatically invited to participate in the remaining beta events (the details of which are available on the official site). Finally, Trion is also discounting multi-month subscriptions to the tune of $9.99 US with a time-limited Founder's Pricing program.

"We've been able to create an exceptionally polished and immersive online world filled with adventure, surprise, and beauty. We can't wait to share RIFT with players around the world," said Trion CEO Lars Buttler.
    That's a lot of swag. o_O

Probably the best Collector's Edition gear since Tabula Rasa's, which came with a personalized dog tag (which I still have), coin, poster, and other stuff. I'm starting to like Rift more and more, and after this next Warfronts (instanced PvP) beta. I'm going to decide whether or not I want to buy it. I've liked the first two betas.

I'm tempted to try it, but so many P2P mmo's have been an utter disaster lately such as APB and FFXIV.

I tried it out and neglecting the rather resourcehog it is, it's not that bad.

I dislike the talent/skill system though, giving me a reason not to buy it. :/

I should update this but all my effort went into writing this lousy excuse.

Kinda suspicious. Would wait a few months after its release.

not interested in Rift at all, imo it stinks of PvE, and it aimed to be a WoW clone so it will fail hard due to that.
We must go forward, not backward. Upward, not forward. And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

    Currently Playing:
    - Guild Wars 2

    Waiting for:
    - Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade

I was playing the beta and realized that I was playing World of Warcraft but with big purple missiles of gas flying everywhere.
