no this actually wasn't a troll because i end up posting stuff like questions which i want a serious reply from in the lounge so i don't know if i can post them in general or would it be considered spam

Using common sense is far from a proper guideline.

Every mod has a different idea of what's acceptable. You wing it, and hope you don't say something that offends a particular mod.

General rule of thumb for the lounge is as follows:

If you post it anywhere else, will it get locked/moved to the lounge for spam? If yes, it belongs in the lounge.

If you post it anywhere else, will it get locked/you get warned/infractioned/banned for anything other than spam? If yes, it doesn't belong anywhere.

Does that mean you can post 500 threads a minute all titled "a" with the body "sdf" and get away with it? No, because I'm still gonna kick your *** for it :P

You don't get post count here, so it's a place to be ******ed.

I tried that actually, and you can't, because it tells you a duplicate thread was made within the last five minutes.
