There's no way a realistic Hulk could be anything be besides C.G., so I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about. Lou Ferrigno "worked" back then because he was an abnormally sized man for his time, and the graphics had not advanced far.
They tried having a non-C.G. Juggernaut in the third X-Men and it was the worst thing ever.
I guess this is the downside with comic movies being famous. People watch a few comic movies and all of a sudden think they have a say in the characters.
