I'm pretty sure most smokers do start because they think it'll make them cool. I don't think you can blame cigarette companies for that. Not anymore, anyway. In Ontario, cigarettes can't even be put on display. They're kept in closed cabinets, and only taken out when a customer makes a purchase. I'm pretty sure they're banned from advertising, as well. and of course hideous images of blackened lungs are displayed on the packages.

Personally, I don't think the government has the right to stop people smoking, any more than I think they have the right to ban any other drugs, or suicide. Not to seem cold, I hope, but it's the individual's choice imo.

I've been offered cigarettes since I was 13. I've had women trying to shove cigars down my throat. It's not hard to say no.
