Gold PVP is filled with min/maxed characters who pick the most OP powers, letting them one-two shot everyone while being invincible themselves (teleport spam) So yeah, I don't blame them for wanting to go with archetypes.
The only thing "OP" you need to watch out for there are people who pick TP as a travel

It would be best to look at the powers the archetypes get before you ask something that's answered in game.
There is no "one or the other" with superstats. You get both up to 200ish for the maximum damage bonus. If Blade has lightning reflexes, the dex would help more, but it doesn't, so it doesn't matter.

Gameplay wise I wouldn't say it beats DC but it's a good alternative if you don't want to pay money, unless you either sub for life or get a gold sub.

as for PvP almost none
the level 40 cap on quests sucks however

the only advantage is you get to choose your own powers (so as your enemies in pvp!) IMO archetype pvp is much much better than freeform pvp cause its much balanced/organized.. unlike freeform powers where everyone is a damager no team play alike..
