Reputation: 882hmm maybe not, but i dont see anyone playing dcuo in a year or 2, specially not when i already see posts of people getting bored after 2 weeks. but even if people still do play it anyone is better of sticking to a monthy sub imo. i mean how much does it cost $200? thats like 15months worth of game time and i dont know many people who ever played a mmorpg for 15 months :P (SPECIALLY not on onrpg, lol)

As for whether DCUO will make it, I dare say they'll switch to a free to play model in under a year, I say this because the game itself has a number of issues that the community is fairly vocal about, like lack of content, Chat system not overly user friendly, people wanting more skills then 6 available bound to bar, people wanting clickable buttons, animation clipping in pvp, subscription price differences for NZ and AUS players ($19.95AUD when Australian dollar is near 1 for 1 vs $14.95US for Americans, threads on this subject are quickly closed down and SOE has no official response on issue).
If SOE manages to fix some of the game play issues and manages to keep up content they may survive on a P2P model but I'd say within 12 months it's a F2P model with some cash shop attached.
The game itself I would say would have longevity tho, as a F2P model.

Lifetime Subscriptions are always in the $200+ range. About the cost of 13 months of game time. Only do it if you are absolutely sure you'll play the game for that long, and you know the game itself will not die off.
For the first 12-13 months you'll still technically be "paying" for the game, it's only after 13 months that the lifetime sub finally starts to pay off.
Pretend like it's a B2P game you bought at Gamespot that costs several hundred dollars. If the game is not good enough, one day someone might steal your jewel case and CD and burn it in a bonfire.

^ This is one of the best examples of what a lifetime subscription normally is.
Also I think a lifetime sub is pointless for people who don't use very good passwords or for your more casual gamer/computer user
as hackers are a problem and if they get your account and the publisher/developer decides to screw you out of your $200+ by
saying there is basically nothing they can do to recover your account or there is lack of evidence that your the correct owner
of said account. Yeah it sucks I know...
Edit* Yes I know how that may not seem logical at all but to all the ones who cannot see the logic, its the game industry. Just like hollywood or the media or anything like that, they will attempt to screw you over reason why this is logical is that, the company does not retrieve your account after buying a lifetime sub because of this lack of evidence or whatever the excuse may be. Basically the people who love the game may go out and buy the game again an start anew so they can continue playing said game. Now said greedy company just got double payment from one member. To me it seems logical. I don't know just trying to clear up any confusion that may or may not happen before it happens. =]
Edit* Excuse my poor grammar I have insomnia and have not slept for quite some hours, I am exhausted.
Reputation: 25I play DCU currently, still in my free month, I can see myself paying for 1 more month possibly, but after that? Probably not, most lifetime subscribs are a waste of money, with the possible exception for companies who offer a lifetime subscribtion on a whole range of games.
