    Default Thinking of trying Allods

Posted this on the main forums but I figure I'd post here for a less bias perspective:

Hey guys, I'm thinking of starting Allods but I've had some pretty bad experiences with GPotato (mainly with how they CS ruin the first year or so of a game before balancing it out) so I was hoping I could get a heads up on any issues.

    1) I've heard they've made CS items (incense?) more attainable now but what about the cursed item system? I believe this is the one that replace the old fear of death (?) system?

    2) Are there any classes that are overpowered/underpowered that I should be aware of?

    3) I'm torn between rolling a Paladin, Scout, Warden, or Warrior. In general, I prefer melee (Daggers or Swords), but I don't mind Bows as well. Is there anything I should know of in regards to class imbalance (PvP and PvE), soloability, or grouping with any of these classes?

    Thanks.

I can't give you much info on the game in general, just a few things since I was looking into Allods myself and done some research by browsing the official forums and junk so here's what I can tell you from a majority perspective.

Priests are OP in the game. Specifically melee priests. The whole ability to self-heal and also pull out high numbers make them hax in PvP and such if done well. Apparently from the EU gPot servers/forums they have a high distribution of Warrior, Paladins and Priests because those are the most favored for instances and such but as long as you don't play one of the ubergimp classes (I can't remember the names) you should manage to find high level parties and such.

CS wise I don't think there's anything super groundbreaking with it - though I could be wrong. One of the major things is that there's astral shards (or something?) that you can buy in packages so you can just jump over the period of farming for several weeks/months but I'm sure there's other small things that tip the balance just slightly that more hardcore groups will just demand that you have but the package of materials is the most significant item in the shop.

I don't play Allods, so don't take my words super srs but this is what I can think off at the top of my head. I forum lurked there this month so yarrr.

It's GPotato so I'm expecting some of that but I've heard a lot of endgame players have found ways around the CS without much trouble.

Sure if you don't want to PvP or try any of the harder dungeons.

You will need high lvl runes otherwise.

Actually it's accurate since posting this on a forum not dedicated to the game will gather a wider variety of opinions. Nothing mockable or funny about that at all.

I enjoy the game to be honest, but I never got far enough to experience the cash shop dependency. I might start replaying it in the next few days but I'm already tied up in a few things. We'll see how it all goes. But I'd definitely say it's one of the more enjoyable F2P games, to me at least.

So far after some research it seems to have picked up WoW's better traits and added some F2P RNG to some of it. I'm still confused about the purpose of the game though - is it a classic grinder, is the point to get to endgame and gear up via dungeons/raiding, or is it like vanilla WoW where leveling to the cap is a pain and then you start gearing up.

    >_> Got to 11 on my Warrior before being informed that Warriors are more for DPS...

I wanted a tank. Restarting on a Paladin.

Actually.........I was under the impression warriors were the tank normally and Paladins were DPS/Off-Tank?

Edit: So decided to start up again, what side and server is everyone playing on?

Yeah I was very confused. Apparently Pallys are better for a few bosses but that's it. >_> Everyone keeps confusing me though. "OMG NO PALYZ R BOSS" or "OH MAN WARIORZ ROX AT DIS AND DAT BLAH BLAH."
