I think a lot of people posting in this thread about "inteligence" need to learn about addiction before making any further statements. Reading stuff like "primordial idiots" on here really made me laugh.
You people do realise that a big part of the Chinese youth is not living your US American college student "mum cooks my dinner" life?
That's right, standards are different there. To keep this short, they live in flats with the size of half of your bathroom, working double the time for half the money you are.
A quick little info about addiction: It is proven that poor life quality / depression / hard social conditions are the very basement of any addiction. If you do not understand what I mean, read up on how dopamine reward circles influence the strength of an addiction.
Please people, before making the bold statement that these problems are caused by the lack of common sense, ****ing inform yourself.

Reputation: 15You all are talking about cultural differences and addictiveness of these games, but if I recall the original post was aimed at that in particular. If I recall it was more of a warning to western gamers to to fall in the same pattern.
But even on that subject, it's pointless as other post have proved, eastern and western cultures are completely different. America isn't likely to take loans to pay for games, and are less likely to get addicted. We live easy lives and can find comfort and happiness from much more than a game. Beauty of our freedoms I suppose. But it just isn't very likely. Ever look around this forum even, the posts about those chinese games? No one really plays them actively or for very long. They arn't looked very fondly upon over here, because they are all the same.
Now I don't know if it's just because western games are less likely to fall into addictive pattens or what, but the initial warning: "Don't let your kids play these games" Seems pointless.
I was just gunna say "cause life in china sucks and sucky games are a great outlet for them" but I think you put it just a little better.
I could also be a pretend psychologist and say something like 'the rewarding advancement they gain in an MMO makes them feel accomplished in a way they can't feel in a communist society'
Yeah I like that one![]()
Reputation: 10I've checked, it failed in russia but highly successful in korea and the rest of the east asia.... it probably would fail in west too, but remember it's not like that the westerners(caucasian or christian) are natural not attracted to such games, it's they don't have the tradition.but tradition can be changed.. the game culture can be raised up. since now chinese companies become extremely rich, naturally they will have more influence in the world, just as japanese comapanies were .
communism doesn't play a role in gaming itself. it's popular in all oriental culture.. but communism allows such games to be a lot more evil.
life in china is quite good in cities. currently the main social conflict is the huge difference between city residents and village people.
I'm a native resident in city, I don't even need to work. just rental out my house.
the average life in big cities in china is at least not worse than average in south korea
Eh, look at that game ZT Online, that game will completely screw up your life right there.
