Default mmorpg is more a threat than drugs in china.

especially free ones ,it's abyss, just ask any chinese except those profiteers.

free game? it's like a deadly trap, first they let you play game free, then make you addicted and trick you into spending money to become stronger, and ...the money spending will never end.the price will become high and higher, if you have money you can become the best in a few hours. it's a money game, free to get into the game, but if you want to achieve something you need huge money or massive time .

millions of chinese have gotten bankrupted(or almost) playing so called free mmorpg.. perfect world, giant interactive etc
lured some players spending $500000-$1 million to be the top players! .... every year the mmorpgs cause hundreds of death in china( suicide, killed by mob from whom they borrow money).

THE BOSS OF giant interactive is a complete swindler , he is infamous in china for selling "water" at the price of gold. with the help of CCTV(chinese national tv) commercial..if he were in america, he would have been sentenced to 1 millions in prison. but in china he is a model business man

well, dont know if the site is bribed by those chinese profiteers. anyway still give try..I wrote those because I read somewhere in english, they praise chinese mmorpg and say it will soon become popular everywhere in the world........ don't let your sons play it

Drugs aren't a threat in China because they have some pretty draconian drug laws over there. They're pretty liberal with the death penalty over there.

There are CEOs who have been tried and executed for substituting nutrients in baby powder with toxic chemicals, leading to infant deaths. Less shits are probably given about F2P MMO swindlers.

the "CEOS" are probbaly scapegoats. there many interesting chinese things unknown to outsiders.

all chinese internet portals do mmorpgs today, a 20 BILLION dollar business every year. about 70 million addicts, 1000+ new mmorpgs come out to play per year including foreign ones.

WOW is a good game but abused by local agency company

100 thousand users strike against shanda company for allowing cheats. also for putting a gambling mini game in the game
    http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=747345589

ten deadly sins of mmorpgs.(highly recommeded)
    http://games.enet.com.cn/article/A4620091209002.html

chinese food industry, chinese bank system, chinese goverment owned big companies. all have serious problems.

You guys who are trolling above, or seem to be, are missing the point. MMORPGs, Specifically, cash shop related ones are HIGHLY profitable, and addicting.
However, its not the game thats addicting, its the bid for power, the greed, its something thats a trait of all humans. For example, a person spends 100$ to get a item, in lets say..Gachapon..they don't get it..so they spend another 50$..they still don't get it, the cycle goes on and on..its simply like gambling. Games like maplestory suck hundreds, to thousands out of people, mainly kids. A f2p mmo is usually only dangerous to the more wealthy people, and often to really dumb people in poverty, the type who buy 600$ shoes when they have to pay their rent.

Ofcourse schoolin' your kids is always a good thing, but it doesn't work for everyone.

And as for that mob part, hes referring to LOAN SHARKS.

agree. but don't forget some more keywords: the basic male competition, the revenge , men's honor, and the "brotherhood".. but everything is controlled secretly by companies they will do anything to activate the games, including various cheatings

Yes actually, it does have to do with intelligence. Somebody with common sense, who ends up addicted to say WoW, will not decide, "ZOMG I NEED MONEY FOR THE $25 MOUNT I'M GONNA ROB A BANK!".

It also doesn't take very much to look at the state of Korea/China and what they're trying to do to stomp addiction then look at the US. There is a very noticeable difference.

probably nobody robs a bank for items in game. but as trey said, for adults they borrow money from loan sharks and the money is not $25 not $ 250, it's $ 25000 or $ 250000.. for school boys they leave school. and steal money from the parents or anywhere possible.

it causes deaths, bankrupt, dropping out of school, divorce, losing jobs, gambling, domestic violence etc. still don't get it?
btw for females, they play another kind of game, like fashion dance game. they will buy virtual clothes that are much more expensive than their real clothes.

online game addicts often spend whole playing, and odn't like to talk to anyone.70 million chinese play it everyday. millions of serious victims..

thoudsands of hardworking parents accuse game providers of detroying their family's life.

the game selling virtual money is more harmful than someone who moneyprinting. the latter only destroys financial system, the former destroys social structure

maybe u cant define addiction in just one way. Sure it has to do something with intelligence, but also with your social sorrounding.

In a happy live, a good wealthy, prosperous and sorrounded by many friends, is addictness probably not possible. (as i think)
Sure addicteness can cath anyone, but it needs probably a gate for that. Bad experiences in life, unhappyness opens the gate to what makes addiction possible.

Even though these are very outrageous claims this is addiction we are talking about here. Most of the time addicts will do anything or at least attempt to get anything they want now say they wanted $25 for something in game i don't think they would go rob a bank for it but they wouldn't feel bad at all about stealing it from someone around them which is something they wouldn't normally do or even try to steal it from a random stranger by pick pocketing on the street who knows addiction can cause people to do some very crazy things. Now this topic does have something to do with intelligence in a way because my theory is one has to be stupid to get addicted to something in the first place however once addicted their judgment is clouded and makes it seem as if they have no common sense at all

i thought about a good compersion, since everything is in our Gens.

Addictness is like chocolat, once u taste its hard to say no. Some ppl have those gens that its hard to get effected. Like some are resistend to Aids, but most are not. Some can be havy affected from addicntess, some can say easy no and stop. Our weaks and strongs are are coded in our gens. THere isnt really a cure to something like this.
Look at oncle charly, he must have a Gen, that makes him affected to hot *****es and alkohol.

You just need self-discipline. Or like Vietnam, attempting to ban online gaming. xD

The Government restricts major entertainment, unlike the west.

Violence, Pornography, Exposure of Women in Films, etc.
All of this is in human nature, and like it or not, this entertains the masses and is essential in keeping a happy population.

Restricting such entertainment leaves lesser entertainment to take over.
This is where MMORPGs come in.

Most Chinese people work in manual labour for very long hours with little pay. The only joy in their life left, is playing a free MMORPG after work.

This takes minimal effort. No need to spend time walking anywhere, or large amounts of money, just turn your computer on and play.

The Chinese government brought this upon themselves. Treating their country and their people like shit. Abusing their land and their inhabitants.

Total disregard of human life and little to no respect for their rights.

The Government should revoke Communism as this romantic view of everyone being hard working and living in an incredibly peaceful place, with no profit, is great in theory, but many examples of its failures show that in practice, it never works.

The rapid economic growth is impressive, but at what cost? Their lands being ***** and poisoned? Their people treated like slaves and cattle?

That is not what Communism is meant to be.

Games should not be blamed. They prosper in a broken world. The game developers aren't masterminds with their pinky to their mouth. They don't purposely want to ruin people's lives. They want to live and have a better life in a corrupted and ravaged world. Anyone would.
