I've played through so far as a male mage and a female mage. I've always loved BioWare. I've played most of their games. Mass Effect is amazing, as is its sequel. Dragon Age: Origins, however, while it consumed a lot of my time, had a great story, and was, overall a great game, was, in my opinion, lackluster compared to either of the Mass Effect games (which I consider to be its "sister series").
I have not pre-ordered Dragon Age II because I was on the fence about it. I wanted a big improvement over the first game and I wasn't sure I would get that. Now that I have played through the demo twice, all I can say is it's exactly what I wanted. I will be pre-ordering tomorrow. I played the demo on steam, and still need to play it on one of my consoles. It's short, and there are a LOT of things that are locked, and it's plagued by strange loading times that I hope will be fixed upon release. I played it on a boot camped macbook pro running windows 7. Other than the odd pause/loads during dialog, I had no problems.
I love that the main character has a voice. It increases the immersion for me so much. I can't wait to see what the customization is like, and to try out more of the skills. I'd love to hear other's opinion, and whether or not you plan on pre-ordering, and for what system?
Although I don't like the art style, I have to say the dialogue, combat and story is awesome so far. Not sure if I would be pre ordering since the sword and shield doesnt interest me much. I also liked what they did with the mage, Gandalf mage was one of the main reasons i didn't like playing mages but now they get a polearm with a massive blade at the end and the armor looks badass. PC all the way, the mods will make the game even more awesome
I too waited for the demo before placing my pre-order, all the haters had me nervous.
Played on Steam and did for giggles (and trying to get the demo counter up) I did it on my 360 as well... my god I don't know how console players handle the game.
Just like Mass Effect, I find the Female Voiceactor to do a much better job at being the character than the Male Voiceactor. Shame they only use the Male in all the Ads.
Played it first. Lo' and behold, I disagreed with EVERYTHING the crazy hardcore minority is complaining about, as I normally do.
The people on the bioware forums are really nothing more than a bunch of kids (I say that realizing that there are some adults who do this too) who still have it stuck in their head that hating on the new and popular things makes them cool.
