WoW if you want to stand around in town waiting for something to happen, with unbalanced PvP

Rift is you want something new.

    Rift Vs. Wow

Rift uses rift, 50 damage to WoW
WoW uses fanboi, over 9000 damage to Rift
    Rift has fainted...

    Well there you go

There is a similar thread about this, but to make it short...Rift is a new mmorpg and recently launched mmorpgs usually don't have enough content or are not polished enough, while WoW has already many years of updates, expansions and content, imo i'd go with WoW.

Usually an old mmorpg > recent title...mmorpgs need time to get "good", i can't think of any mmorpg that has been good since the release...they always have some flaws that get fixed over time.

Oh wow ... So that's what makes it new ... I never would have thought ... So it means its better just because its "New" ... somehow i don't think so ...

    Lets look from other side

We got wow a 6+ years game who has millions of player all over the world ... expansions , updates and everything else just fully established game ...

And we got Rift ... a new still not launched game who at the moment has plenty of players but we do not even know if it still will have in 2 - 3 months ... a game which is only starting ...

NOTE: I do not hate Rift i am stating what is true ...

And so with all the respect i would choose WoW over Rift any time...

Rift is a better game, and yes I have played both before you fan-boys start.

But these threads only end up in arguments.

just the problem is that that pc from 7 years ago won't run that wow anymore ... because they upgraded graphic like ??? long ago ??? ... i think from wotlk ... and even more from cata...

    In all seriousness though.

Both are good games for their genre, I personally just prefer RIFT. But you can't go wrong with either as they will be better than any F2P shit you'll find.

I would say play the WoW trial, and try RIFT when it releases a trial. Then decide.

for me personally i vote for wow just because its so much more polished and the pvp imo is better.

also in before some one calls me a fanboy, im playing both. hell i am actually playing rift as my main mmorpg right now.

also, rift's tech support team is a complete joke, imo one of the worst.

If you enjoy PvE more, than Rift. The world is just fascinating.
If you enjoy both, than still Rift.
But if you only want PvP, I guess WoW might be a better pick, just rush trough the boring world.. and.. well.. gank..

WoW is not bad, but I just didn't like it's PvE.

That totally depends on what you consider to be pve. we havent seen rift endgame so saying rift has better endgame then wow is completely ******ed.
as for leveling, personally im not much of a leveler i cant stand leveling but i think both rift and wow are on about the same level here, cata leveling is great, fun, fast and has a lot of really good story lines, with amazing landmarks.

both of the times i have been in contact with support has ended up with me fixing my problem with pretty much little to no help from them, everything they told me to do i already explained to them in detail that i did it already.

eh, i still wont be surprised if in 1-6 months rift is as dead as warhammer, yet at the same time i wont be surprised if it keeps its popularity, its hard to judge but going by recent p2p history rift has more of a chance of failing right now.

people always seem to forget how popular war was at launch and in beta, it lasted 1-2 months and then started to die, same goes for aion. hell i have heard from a lot of friends that dcuo is starting to "die"

Launch is 1st and the 4th.
Headstart is going on right now, only for those who pre-ordered it.

It's mainly what i've said, P2P mmorpgs are not good at the release, NEVER. They need like a year or two before they get enough updates...and by the time they come usually the game is already "dead" and people no longer wants to sub again. Hell...WoW was a buggy crap game when it released aswell.

Honestly, i've tried a good amount of P2P games at their releases...and i've never seen one that is "good", they lack content, need to be more polished...etc, usually people starts to complain once they get to cap level (a couple of months later).

For that reason i said WoW over Rift, you already know how WoW is in terms of end game and everything...and Rift is like throwing a coin in the air...will it be good or not? The time will tell...

Playing rift at moment, I'm enjoying it, classes are nice, chance to make some pretty varied specs/class combos, rifts are pretty cool, reminds me of warhammer area quests, UI is good off the bat, very versatile without the need for mods, I haven't got to high (10 so far) but the quests aren't to bad, same old same old once you've played a few mmorpgs.

As for WoW after playing since beta wow just seems old, everything thing seems rehashed, cata leveling should of been longer imo, game seems like a rush to end game these days, take something away then give it back or just update it feels like I'm being ripped off e.g. New Deadmines, ZG, ZA, old strath, fairly expensive to get up to date, that all being said, there is a lot to do in wow, it is polished, classes have enough variety to keep you interested, achievements, pvp and trades are pretty good too.

Which do I prefer? well rift because it's something new, with some nice new/different features, sure it's a combination of a heap of other games but WoW was/is to.

WoW does have the upper hand content wise, but a lot of it is redundant, there isn't much reason to go to old raids except for towns sets or achievements and before someone goes into but you don't want rehashed content, my thought of rehashed content is they should of been updated as expansions became available e.g. When BC came out there should of been 70 versions of all current raids and dungeons and for Wrath so on and so forth, I believe that would of been a much better way to handle it, Lineage handled this by providing bosses in early dungeons for high level players to kill, which also didn't work to bad.

Both games are good imo, but I'll pick WoW over Rift because it have a lot of things to do in it, much more content than Rift currently, it polished and well... the PvP is imbalanced atm., hell, it can't be balanced to perfection, but Rift's PvP will be more imbalanced due to the classes that can one shot you with 3 talent trees.
It's hard to see Rift's PvP to be well balanced.
As for Rift's end content, it's still early and with time they will probably have more content.

But I'd say go for WoW and also, there was no need for another new post for these games. You already made one and I think it was well pointed out, that most of the votes were for WoW, but best thing is to choose on your own, it's a matter of taste. ^^

Both WoW and Rift are definately worth the purchase and the one month of playing.
After that it's your personal likes and dislikes that decide which one is better.
I have played WoW to the fullest and I enjoy Rift now A LOT

Anyone who says Rift will be dead like "P2P MMORPG X" is full of **** and has no idea of the gaming business.
Bugless and stable launch with 400k-700k pre-orders is not a fail unless they do something horribly wrong. And looking at Trion over these past few months I highly doubt we'll see them failing.
