Cataclysm also bought alot of storyline to WoW that you experience when leveling up(like the dream of helping thrall kill deathwing only to find you are powerless).
Point is, most games have very little content once people hit max level and end game content in WoW gives people something to strive for.

What sucked with Cataclysm though is in maybe 10 hours you finish 1-60 and you go back to older WoW. WoW just makes you think you accomplished something by hitting 85. In reality it's just masking the fact that it's a grinder as well.

Edit: I do admit leveling to 60 in cataclysm on an alt was amazing though.

Every game is a grind in one way or another, WoW just likes to mask it well. I really liked that dream in which my character was powerless to help thrall do anything against deathwing.

It is a FACT, WoW offers one of, if not the most richest endgame experience right now. And yes the 'journey' to that point isn't as potent as it was in vanilla/BC.

The only game that has anything near WoW's level of endgame play is Everquest, and oddly enough, possibly FFXI.

If the "richest" endgame experience means running the same heroics/raids all the time, hoping to get a piece of equipment, only to have it not drop or have 20 other people roll on it, forcing you to run the same heroic/raid hundreds of times before you finally get said item, only to do it again for the next tier of heroics/raids, then WoW players have a skewed sense of "rich"

Thanks for summarizing every endgame ever made. Clearly I was referencing loot or the monotony of it, and not the actual encounters/lore itself. You're an asset to this discussion.
