I was around 9 years old when Pokemon first came out, and I've loved all the pokemon RPGs (I stopped playing them at the re-release of first ones, fire red /leaf green, but recently got a DS just so I could play Black and White). I also loved the card game in grade school.
So, what I was wondering, why has there been no professional attempt at making a pokemon MMO?
There have been a lot of indie/fan/free-version attempts, but nothing (from what I've seen) that has mad much progress, that is stable, or has lasted long.
Which brings me to another topic, but closely related to the first: 3D pokemon games and/or MMO's.
I'm sure we've all played the Colosseum games, and if you haven't, you need to head to your closest game store and get an N64 and pick them up. There's also been a few others (I saw that my cousins have one for their Wii that I've been wanting to try but have been to embarrassed to try ;_. And I'm also sure you all loved them. It was like a dream come true, for me. Not only did I get to see the pokemon in 3D, but I got to play the gameboy games on the "big screen" (big for then, anyways...)
What I've always wondered is, why haven't there been any successful attempts at making a 3D pokemon RPG (or MMORPG). You'd think that at least some Japanese or Korean guys would do it, if not someone else.
I know there have been projects, I helped work on one that failed miserably 4 or so years ago. And I think (not sure, can't remember, any help here?) there may still be one in the works? Or did that one fail, too?
This is a bit of a dream-rant. A rant about what I would wish could happen.
To me, making a 3D pokemon MMO, or something similar, would be extremely intelligent. The story/world (or something to base it off of, if you chose something else) is already there for you, and there's hundreds of options you could add to make things more interesting for your players. All the creatures are already created, the game mechanics are.
There's so much that could be done with it.
But I suppose the biggest problem is that those with the skills and abilities to complete and do a project like this are either preoccupied and committed to other projects, or are just not interested. Which I guess is easy to understand, as pokemon is usually thought of (and is more appealing to) something for children.
So, in the end, my question is:
Any updated info on any pokemon MMOs in the works? Most of the stuff I've found have been outdated (either dead, come to a standstill, or completely disappeared).

. And I'm also sure you all loved them. It was like a dream come true, for me. Not only did I get to see the pokemon in 3D, but I got to play the gameboy games on the "big screen" (big for then, anyways...)
