Depends, some motherboards use a specific type of ram.

ie. My inferno katana goes up to 2200 MHZ memory, where as some Mobos go up to 1800


also at specific speeds, do your research first, find out if the ram you're buying is fully compatible with your future system. If all the information is valid ,then you can go ahead and purchase, otherwise i wouldn't recommend it.
