    Default Job Interview

So I got my first interview Thursday at Big Lots (Its like a K-mart kind of store) and I am curious to wondering what kind of questions are asked at the interview.

I plan on wearing a pair of khakies, a tie, and a button down shirt, but I am oblivious to what kind of questions are asked. Much appreciated.

Have some points about your skills.

    What is your greatest strength?
How will your greatest strength help you perform?
How do you handle stress and pressure?*******
    What motivates you?

and know the skills you are going to talk about (the skills needed for the workplace). In your case im guessing teamwork, cooperation, management (time and efficiency), responsibility, positive (in terms of customer interaction)

"Why should we choose you from a big pile of applications?"

I'm 100% sure this question will be asked.

another question I have is how much do they look at your application on the interview, or rather how much do they take it into account? I wont lie there were a few mistakes and such I put on there after thinking about it.

just gota be Chill, and be yourself. All you have to do. Also when they ask you about your pay, be strict. You will most likely begin as a part time employee, if you're hired. So agree to minimum wage, then mention its open for discussion later on down the line.

Also they wont look at your application that much, if you're going in for a interview now they most likely looked over the mistakes.

Can't really know what they will ask. Just dress in formal clothes. A tux or something. That is if the job you are applying to is a serious one and well payed. No need to hassle for a car salesman place though it won't hurt anyway

Just have a look into the company you are going to work in. Get information, take their brochures, visit their website and etc. Just in case they might ask something you about themselves you know what to say.

Other than that good luck. Nothing else anyone can help really.

Well how I got the interview was like this:

I went into the store, filled out an app, after talking with the cashier lady another women came up and I was told that she was the women who would be looking over my app, one of the hiring managers I think? Anyway, right then and there she said "thursday at 10 good?" Of course I said yes, its prob just being nervous. Before something big happens I get nervous, but usually when put into the situation I am good to go.

    Heres hoping

What initially matters is the first impression. If that goes perfectly then the job should be yours.

    isn't that a movie cliche?

I would be surprised if they actually hired on spot. Never seen a job here around where somebody got instantly hired without waiting a week at least for a response.

describe a situation where a customer has irritated you and how you dealt with it.

Most jobs don't unless they're understaffed. They want a chance to look at their potentials.

Employers frankly like to feel like they're picking and choosing the best person for the job...though sometimes you as an employee get lucky and they're forced to hire whoever fits the general bill and pray that they picked someone competent.
