    Default Wrong mindset? [emo rant]

I've found that no mmorpg holds my interest any more because I rush in and immediately look at the high scores. I mean yeah sure it's alright to be competitive and everything, considering it is a game, and the idea of a game is to achieve goals set by the game designers. I just seem to loose interest extremely rapidly because all I'm thinking about is beating the person whose a few points in experience ahead of me.

I remember when I first played a mmo, back int' day and all that bollocks. My first mmo was tibia, like version 7.4 if memory serves. I was completely oblivious to everything, the competitiveness of the game didn't matter, the origin of players didn't matter, I was genuinely blissful and it was amazingly fun. I'd just be chatting to people instead of leveling or training, and that's what held my interest, just the people I'd meet and shit.

Now I'm all judgemental and rarely talk to any other people in a game, which usually ends up making the game boring. Haha maybe it's just the hostile communities where everyone's has that "I'm superior than you" mentality.

Anyone else become a cynical sort of gamer?

I did and I still am.

Nowadays I don't even play free MMOs anymore.

Basically I play a game on it's fun factor, not how competitive it is(though if I can be competitive in it then I'll try).

I get what you're saying about less interaction with people. I wish I had some interest in actually being friends with some people I meet in games, but there's just not that much to talk about, once you know allot about the game.

The more experienced you get in MMOs, obviously the more they seem...the norm. That's the fate of most things in life. All you can do is try to enjoy what you can and then move on to something else.

The thing that makes an MMORPG is the people you play with. Sure, the game itself can last you for a bit. A week, or two. Maybe a couple of months. But it's the group of people you find yourself that makes or breaks the game for you.

You can find yourself playing with the same group of people for years and not regret a second of it and not even realize that years have passed until it's all over. But it does end, you'll just become a shell of a gamer, not able to stick with any game, wondering why, until you realize that you've lost something that is very hard to get back. A good group of people to enjoy a game with.

Unfortunately, things happen, people move on, have to leave the game, mature, get bored of the game and want change. Stuff like that.

Enjoying a (MMORP)game by yourself and not having much interaction with other players and still enjoying the game and playing hours a day takes a special kind of sad person.

When you look for a new game, look for a fun game, but as soon as you get into that game, start looking for a good group. If you find it, you'll find yourself sticking with the game for a long while.

Innit, there's just something so appealing about being better then others when it comes to a game. That sort of power that can't be taken away from you, it's fucking win.

Anyway, decided on playing Mythos, was gunna pick the game up today but every distributor in the UK has failed and thinks the games release isn't until the 28th. So no early start for me, which I suppose is a good thing because my competition will be far ahead of me, impossible to chase.

Plus, my sisters boyfriends says hes interested in playing for some 'Diablo II nostalgia', so should be pretty decent.
