    Default Musical Talent

Hello, everyone. I was wondering how musically talented OnRPG was? Tell us about your musical background and what you can do.

My dad has been a professional singer for a long time now, and I picked up his voice, so i've been a choir geek ever since I can remember, and have sang a solo at All County Choir (Mercer county in WV) and All State Chorus last year.

I also have played guitar since I was about 9 or 10. And i'm learning how to play drums by ear.

So tell me, OnRPG, Y U NO TELL ME UR MUSIC BACKGROUND ALREADY?

I played the drums for about a month in a band in school. Played in front of a crowd and everything! That's about as far as my instrumental expertise stretches.

Been trained in Jazz and Blues guitar mainly for 10+ years, but I play metal now mostly. I practice a bit on bass and drums now and then. Not a huge synth/trance person but the stuff for it is there with the midi keyboard.

My family is more into mechanics than music.

But eh I have dabbled in piano. D: Never seriously though.

I would love to learn a musical instrument but I rather learn a foreign language. You can say music is a language everyone understands but in my opinion languages like Mandarin and Japanese when spoken fluently sound so beautiful. I especially love the rhythm of mandarin.

I'm not AWESOME with it, and not bad as well..

I'm between average and good with:
    -piano
    -drums
    -guitar
    -beatbox
    -singing
    -poppin' & lockin'

I'm a sucker for harmonizing with vocals though

I make noise with the guitar and shout until my voice gets sore.

Sort of picked up guitar on and off when I was 12. Only about 2 years ago did I started taking music seriously, learning theory, ear training etc. Still a pretty shit musician, though.

Mandarin has the most boring rhythm in the world, to me, especially because its mono-syllabic. Have you ever listen to Chinese people rapping? God, it's terrible!

I also hate the language, barely practised it after I left normal school.

Starts around 0:45. Uggghhhh. Every word is just so straight staccato.

    As compared to Japanese:

    Starts around 0:45.

It's like, Chinese is the wholetone scale and Japanese is Mixolydian.

In elementary school we were forced to pick band or chorus, so I signed up to play saxophone because I hated chorus.

Then I quickly figured out if I left my instrument at home, I couldn't go to practice or concerts.

I played most common instruments from ages eight to 23. I stopped just because I didn't want to do it anymore.

I've written my fair share of rhymes, and still do. Never performed them, though. I don't consider myself having the voice for it.

Been involved in choirs since I was little. Growing up, I was in my church's kids choir as well as musicals. In high school I was in my school's state winning choir.. we won 21 years in a row. I was involved in the Boy's Choir, Jazz Ensemble, Mixed Ensemble, and Show Choir. I also did all of our school musicals, usually as lead vocals.

    Fun times.

It's good to see quite a few people that play instruments!

My dad started playing guitar when he was about 16, listening to Metallica, Jimi Hendrix, Iron Maiden, etc.

So growing up I always heard him playing which in turn got my little brother into playing guitar.

Then my little bro then got a drum set, which turned out that he didn't like them so I picked them up.

Then after a year of drumming I picked up the guitar.

A year after guitar I picked up the piano as well.

So all in all I've been playing music for the past 8 years, singing my way through the whole time!

With the guitar I usually play folk and indie music on my acoustic and post-rock stuff I guess you could say on my electric.

Drumming I usually love rock, metal and "hardcore" music whatevas.

I absolutely LOVE playing classical on piano, especially the Final Fantasy piano collection.

When I'm not "playing" I dabble with producing electronic/house/trance/techno whatever-you-wanna-call-it music.

    Music is muh backbone!

Keep up all your good work and efforts everyone!

My mother used to play the violin, she most likely passed her passion for music onto my brother & I.
My brother plays bagpipes, he has been since about grade 7.
I played the piano when I was around 6 years old, I gave up and picked up the guitar at about the age of 13. In Grade 9ish, I've decided to try and teach myself to sing. :]

I play a bit of piano, and I can only use FL studio when I have a synthesizer, or else I don't know what the **** I'm doing. I can only play/make music by slowly building it right away and then make something out of it. Can't read notes and haven't bothered yet
