    Default Help making a mmorpg

i have a great idea for a mmorpg but im only 11 so i dont know how to make one. would anyone like to help build it? if you are interested and have knowledge as to how to make one please reply and i will give you my idea. all i ask is that i get credit (as in when the gamers look at the credits it says: main idea created by: my name) and i get to be a GM and get to play the game.

You'd need at least 10 years more experience, a degree that allows you to set up your own business and be able to program.

If you're planning to go good 3D (eg stuff like cod and not minecraft), you'd better hire a dev-team and have a funding of 7 digits and possibly even 8.

If not, you could sell your idea.

Unless you know someone that has connections to developer studios, the chance of your idea becoming a reality will be next to zero.

That should be enough to fund snacks.

    Go for it.

Well good sir I'll tell you a tip, it's something that is absolutely required to even "start" making an MMORPG.

It's called money...you won't have enough at your age.

OP, to get your feet wet I would recommend figuring out what code you can and then working on an open source MMORPG.

    http://www.planeshift.it/

Here's an MMORPG where everyone can contribute.

Creating an MMO is hard, would require a team, funding, knowledge of programmation...etc... If any children could create a MMO, there'd be a million more crappy MMOs and for companies to create any wouldn't really be profitable lol.

Only about 2%-5% of programmers out there work on video games even less specifically on MMOs.

Sadly creating fun stuff is also pretty hard, just like doing artworks is harder than it might seem.

You're probably a bit too young to understand all the work that is involved in the making of a game, but the sounds, the 3D models, the engine, the code, the textures, the music, the AI of monsters, the statistics, all the items in the game, the quests, the zones, etc. do not create themselves.

Try asking him what "IT" stands for first.

And how is this not in Lounge yet?

This game looks fun but is it?

And to the OP you're so young! Wait till you're in your 20s.

When your dreams get crushed it wont shatter your world, just your confidence.

    She knows how to party.

Guys don't dis on him lol.

I know a 15 year old about quarter done with his game called

    'ILLINC'

So don't get your hopes down, yes you will need coding experiance mostly in these degrees 'C++' and the new code ( forgot name ).

Coding programs would probably be the best at

    Blender, Python, A7 Engine.
