Reputation: 10Shit, I would totally play with you if I was at home. My laptop can't handle EQ2
Hope you find someone to play with.
Reputation: 52I'm on almost every day, going to be limiting my game use pretty heavily next week due to company staying at my place for a week though. IGN is the same as my forum name.
Reputation: 31I might hop back on. On that note. What side did you roll on Cesious?
Reputation: 52Technically good/neutral, home is in NH. Half Elf Warden.
If you played before the problems and ever downloaded the card game(LoN), you got a free complimentary loot card. I got a 5 bedroom manor in New Halas that is completely rent free.
I have actually just downloaded this today and am planning on giving it a go. I'm just curious about something. It seems like they are running that temporary free gold membership thing? Or something... because I have all classes available to me and as far as I know I am only a bronze member. But what I'm curious about is, if I make, let's say a Dirge which is only available through purchase, when this free time is up... will I have to pay to keep playing that character?
Reputation: 52Yeah, it's free Gold membership til June 17th, then people get placed back into the tier they were in before. So if you make any class that isn't normally free, you'll have to pay to unlock the class to continue the character. It's a good chance to try things out to see what you'd like to play if you did want to unlock anything though.
Reputation: 31They do a lot of point promotions on EQ2x as well. (double station cash) So really... the deals in the shop are quite cheap. I suggest buying expansions seperately if you really get into the game.
Reputation: 52They finished a triple station cash event on Monday, best they've ever done. It was possible to get 6000 SC from a Walmart SoE card for $15. I had to resort to Gamestop for 4500 SC for the same price because availability sucks in some places. I like being able to pay a little for a permanent class unlock, especially since 750 SC = the class you want and the full game.
You get all but the newest expansion free for every expansion release. So before the newest you got all but SoF. After DoV released they gave SoF free to all EQ2x players. When the next expansion releases, they'll release DoV free to all EQ2x players. It isn't really worth it to buy DoV until you're level 85-90 though, since it only adds that level of content.
Ok cool. What are the prices for the classes? 750 points? I was going to look on the in-game store but I can't seem to get into that tab for some reason. (Idk if it's because I'm temporarily gold, and there is no need?)
Also, is there any benefit included with choice of starting zone?
Reputation: 52The classes tab for the shop is blocked because of Gold until it goes away. But yeah, 750 points for a class, or one pack of 3 races. 1000 points for silver membership. It's easiest and best to actually buy a SoE card at Walmart actually, because Sony has a deal with Walmart where their $15 cards are worth 2000 SC instead of 1500 SC(Which is how much you'd get buying SC online through them). 2000 SC unlocks silver + class of your choice with 250 extra to spend or save. 250 will get one of the older cosmetic sets or buy 1-2 unlockers, or save in case you ever buy again for things.
Another thing is that people sell SC purchases for in game currency, doesn't work for classes/races and a few other things, but it does for the cosmetics, mounts and such. As long as people are careful about scams and do it intelligently.
The starting zone differences are mostly just house items and a free mount at the end of the quest line, though the mount isn't anything special. People say New Halas is easiest because it's the newest and most streamlined with Neriak following behind. Both have less distance required to run in comparison to Gorowyn and definitely Kelethin(I haven't done it myself, but some people say it's the biggest time sink of the set).
Oh, and right now you can get a free permanent item you can use to cast an illusion on you to turn into a Ratonga, so it's like a free race in appearance. They do that with some others at other times too.
Thanks for all the info. I shall get started, feel it out a bit then figure out if I want to drive up to Wal-Mart to pick up a card.
I'll post my in-game name when I get started.
Reputation: 31I already have it bought.
On that note. IGN is Bescle. I might be able to log in later tonight.
edit: noticed how shitty my dps is, I might reroll already. That and the fact that they seem to have no real AAs that truly raise ones DPS. The hate gain bonus is also weaker than the other fighter classes, go figure. Guess it's just not going to match my gameplay style.
