    Default Hackers go for Nintendo

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43286193...ity/?gt1=43001

Nintendo's U.S.-based servers were attacked several weeks ago but no consumer data was stolen, the company said on Sunday.

Nintendo is the latest company to be targeted by cyber criminals in a hacking attack. In April, hackers broke into Sony Corp's servers and exposed the personal information of more than 100 million of its customers. No group has taken responsibility for that attack.

Nintendo's break-in did not affect consumers' information, the company said.

"The server contained no consumer information. The protection of our customer information is our utmost priority," Nintendo of America, the company's U.S. unit, said in an e-mailed statement.

"We constantly monitor our security," Nintendo said.
Sony, US officials, PBS, now Nintendo. So I'm guessing Xbox/Microsoft is next...?

Ow the fail in that post. Microsoft is so easy to hack. Why do you think most hackers go for Windows operator systems?? Not only because most people in the world use it, mainly because it's easier then Apple. If they really want to, they can hack the xbox360 network any day.

Most of the hate that is for Nintendo now comes from the core gaming audience after being so alienated by the company due to the way they market the wii. They essentially said "screw the gamers, we want the non-gamers to get in" and while this worked for a few years the wii sales for hardware have slowly dipped, but the software sales took a large nosedive overall.

On topic: I'm not surpised that Nintendo would handle their security as well as they did with this hack after Sonygate (hur dur I Fox News'd it).

It tends to help if you specify which console you are infact talking about, considering Nintendo have about 10 different ones.

The lack of third part support has nothing to with nintendo, for the most part.
Because it's hard to utilize The Wii's ability to use wifi right? :P

The motion control on the wii was needlessly added and in many cases it caused the games to be dumbed down, or Nintendo deliberately dumbed down games to cater to their targeted "non-gamer" market. Another issue is that the wii did not support high definition resolutions. While the 360 and PS3 do match a gaming PC, they look and run years better than the wii on any HD TV. Some games are plagued with unreadable text on an HD tv due to it being very fuzzy. Finally, while there are even more issues I could go into, Nintedo was way too restrictive or simply could not get the third party developers to work with them on creating games for the console. If you check out the list of games for the wii, many of them are developed exclusively first party by Nintedo. The other two consoles of this generation are thriving off third party developers, while Ninetendo has refused to look at the pool of talent that is available out there.

To be honest, I really don't mind companies getting hacked. This way you can see that where-ever you store your information ( No matter how much they brag about their security ) it can be hacked. So pretty much go sue Sony.

Maybe Nintendo faked a hack to brag about their love for customers, since no information was stolen.
