Reputation: 580The korean version is already at its second server merge ... from 35 servers to 15 ... it doesnt look like its going well there ...
Reputation: 192The update also isn't release,.. often games that fail in Korea, are sucess in the west.
The game was released to early, if the eu/na version can get a good launch, a solid one.
Then, all will be fine.
TBH, 15 servers for one country, I'd still call that alot.
Reputation: 14This 'political system' sounds like a horrible idea that will drastically help no-lifers destroy everyone else.

Reputation: 192afaik, aion was a sucess in korea, and Lineage had 14 million players.. what are you getting at?
Reputation: 14They are giving the 'strongest'/'best' guild an enormous amount of control over land. I've seen this once or twice in other games, and it is just basically one or two no-lifer guilds screaming at eachother and facerolling everyone else.
For god sakes, they can control if merchants with uber gear are available to only them or not?! That's just plain stupidity.
Reputation: 49well, you can always vote for someone else, unless we are talking about a guild that has "50% plus one" of the players in a server (quite unlikely isnt it?) they wont be winning the next election...
and IIRC they said there was a feature to dethrone Vanarchs if people were that fed up with them.
also, there are over 40 locations on this game and a guild can only own 1 at a time...if one guild of asshats actually manages to control a zone...well, just avoid it till they are dethroned...

Reputation: 192it seems interesting for sure!
Reputation: 63Knew about it already, but nice to see it shared around here
The game needs to develop a interest throughout more forums other than official ones.
Reputation: 22I am about to buy Tera KR account... anyone interested in buying one and playing with @.@
I think it sounds cool. not enough games where players can actually control land. It ads a level of excitement that you dont get when a town is just a place to hold npcs..
This sounds like a bad idea, that much control in the hands of a neckbeard is never a good idea
They can throw players in jail too? Oh lord, I might be skipping this one...
Or I shalt RULE with an IRON FIST! Join me my onrpg brothers, we shalt rule with our own neckbeards, and not be oppressed by others!
Reputation: 72Yea TERA pretty much established itself as a game for those that love conflict. This political system is pretty intense. As the associate producer from En Masse described it:
"MONEY, POWER, FAME. YOURS!"
It's really something to strive for as a hardcore player. And if you aren't hardcore? Well just for being a part of the Vanark's guild, you get special privileges like mounts and access to the special npcs, etc.
I look forward to seeing how people campaign. And as was mentioned in a previous post, there are tons of territories. This isn't going to be a 1 party domination scenario.
Other than that... playing this game hands on is SOOOO much fun. Unbelievably fun. I loved every second of it.
We went on a Vanark quest to kill a dragon and the controls are so responsive and yet tricky. You can unlock combos and then unleash them by just pressing the space bar at the right time. It seems simple but it punishes you for spamming attacks. Also the need to aim every strike really makes you have to focus hard on boss battles. That dragon was so dodgy. My slayer could barely keep up with it.
I’d rather risk confusing some people than disappointing them. - Mark Jacobs
You would know where you're going if you didn't skip the cutscenes, a$$hole! - Ragachak

Tera Pay 2 Play, and its failing in Korea, they merging servers, less and less people playing it.
The game will not survive in the market especially in USA with the upcoming games seen in E3.
Besides the point I seen high level end game play, its not as impressive as people make it out to be
You can watch it at http://www.justin.tv/hakkoogaming 1080p, 3000kbps Tera High Level Gameplay
More or less the game is just over hyped....
They announced like a week ago that it had been merged down to 15 servers. It started with 35 servers and 2 of those servers had strong populations, so they left them alone. The remaining 33 servers were then merged into 13 servers. Basically, it's the same thing that happened to Warhammer Online here in the US at first.
While I do think the political idea in Tera is interesting and I enjoyed playing Goonzu(?) years ago with it's elected system that I find somewhat similar. I think this game will do very poorly in the US/EU regions. This will be a niche title for sure.
Reputation: 317This is gonna suck big time. Even if they aren't popular, the strongest guild could easily beat all those world bosses to stay in chargeThey better change it that one guild can only be in charge for 4months total, and they can retry 5months later. Otherwise everyone in the game would be screwed, cause they would keep at the npc's hidden and raise the taxes like crazy.
Reputation: 41agree. Tera will only be a success for those people who loved this gameIt will fail like warhammer... because i see Tera End Game play and its nothing interesting or revolutionary, its another Korean grinder, the game is way too over hyped like AION.
You really should watch more http://www.justin.tv/hakkoogaming
and you will see.
since they saw the first screens xD
I have played the kr beta and it wasnt that good. Dunno why so many people hyping this.
Action combat isnt that epic and gets boring too.
Tera will be like Aion..community not that big and many people
will leave after the headstart.
the second one? where did you get this information? link pls.fail?
are you aware that Aion is the second most successful MMO in history?
how can you mention it in the same phrase as WAR is beyond me...
in my opinion + some statistics its far away from being the second one.
The second one would be Lineage II, DAoC and so on

Reputation: 20Will this be anything like Goonzu? I always wondered why games never copied Goonzu's political and economic system its actually amazing![]()
Reputation: 9its hard to please everyone , since there are over 100mmorpgs already out.
Even Blizzard with his new mmorpg wont get the audience it had with world of warcraft.
Its like , once u get used to something, u wont be pleased with something new that easy.
Tera, or should i say former Lineage 3, will have success, but not like many things. Subs will go down to 100k maybe less.
