Doesn't matter what's bottle necking what, he only paid 230$ for that rig... I'll be damned if anyone considers that a bad purchase![]()
@limp you should check out Vindictus on max, Apb Reloaded, EQ2 extended, LOTRO, those look pretty good with max settings, there's plenty more im sure but can't think of any atm.

this way better
Reputation: 10Where are people getting this notion that too much RAM slows down your computer? As long as they are running at the same speeds and you have a 64 bit OS, there's nothing wrong with having that much RAM apart from it being overkill for general gaming.
8800GT-512 may be pretty old but it's not 'weak'. If you have 2 in SLI it will handle 22+ inch monitor easily. For $230 I wouldn't complain.

Reputation: 292The GTS 450 is not much more powerful than an 8800gt although it does have directx 11 features.
A GTS 450 is even slightly weaker than a GTX 260.
Also I have a 22inch 1680x1050 monitor and whenever I play games I can usually handle them on high or max settings fine even with my older 8800gt setup.
His rig is nothing special you could build a better one for better bang for buck.
Also you will be needing to throw away that 400W power supply and replace it with something better so that is just wasting money.

Reputation: 733Doesn't look bad. I'd try to get a quadcore though, seeing certain games and quite the few heavier apps are getting onto quadcores as minimum requirements.
The cheapest one
The better one

Reputation: 10Really going to advise against getting an AMD CPU when you've got the Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs around which are much better. Budget one is i3-2100.
That means you'd also want to get a P67 mobo, I'd recommend Gigabyte or Asus.
RAM is cheap, might as well get 8GB. 64 bit Win7 OEM as well if you don't already have it.
Do you have a decent (Corsair/Antec) 600W+ PSU? Might want to get one as well. Don't get a crappy one, no matter the Wattage.

Reputation: 733I wouldn't go that far, but it's nothing to brag about in my opinion.
Any other PC doesn't either. Unless you treat it like shit.
Because ME has really high system requirements.
Crysis 2 compared to 1 barely loads your system.
I'm confused by what you're trying to say here.
Because cache rate is all that matters.
The i3 2100, which is a dualcore with HT, has roughly the same performance (tad better actually) than a phenom x4 955, solely due to architecture.
Hyperthreading actually doesn't help with game performance either.
As for the RAM, I've looked at some benchmarks from TH and it does affect your performance... by a mere 0.01fps in most of the cases. Maximum 1fps in the extreme cases.
got to love the internet for pulling so much fake stuff on you...
Still, RAM is cheap and easy to add, so just add 4GB of ram and spend the 50/100usd on something else.
