I was just wondering, is there anyone that moved away from his country because of a war or other political reasons?
Not sure who knows, and who doesn't.
I moved away from my country ''Chechenya'' when I was two with my mother and grandmother because of the war that started in 1995, my father was taken into prison for protecting his brother from a Russian soldier that was beating him and trying to choke him, my father took a gun from behind of his car seat and shot the soldier, after that I've never seen or heard anything from him, I don't have any aunts or uncles anymore, the ones I had died in the war, I still have some people that know me, which are like brothers and sisters for my mother, but that's all.
Honestly, I try to go through the day being happy and go out with my friends with my smile on, but I think its kinda eating from me inside, I don't know how to describe the feeling.
Does anyone have any similar stories?
Please note, I'm not really asking for help, I'm just interested, and nothing is wrong with me even though I sometimes feel sad.
but nah, fortunately that hasnt happened to me and i dont know anyone else from places in eastern europe where there was/still is alot of turmoil
the ethnic cleansing in the 90's was particularly brutal. alot of survivors did choose to emigrate simply because they lost everything.
i remember at school we used to have food drives and other charity stuff to send help to people in bosnia who were orphaned or made homeless by the war. we had to bring in tinned stuff and other things that would last a long time. i think charity organisation did alot more than sh*tty NATO peacekeeping who were tied down by too much red tape.
Well, I wouldn't say I beat people up, I don't walk away from insults, yes that is the correct explanation.
The reason I fight is because I have been taught to fight since being born, everyone in our country practice a fighting sport and in general, always fights when being bored, be it with our brothers, friends or fathers, we always did and still do, just check up some videos on Youtube on either Chechen wrestling or street fights.
And yeah, I know a lot of people who helped us and have been actively helping since then.
I'm just glad that things are going calm now, well, calmer then in the 90's start 00's, and I plan to visit in two years when I'm 18 or so.
I've been tempted to leave the U.S. after the last 10 years of the country devolving into a giant pile of paranoid hypocritical lies with big brother breathing up your ***. I have cousins that live in Scotland, so its been tempting.
I've been wanting to leave the US but, I'm 19 and in college and have no money. So that's a no go for me. The easiest place to move for me is probably Canada, then France and then probably Korea.
