Default Texas Rangers fan dies trying to catch ball

(CNN) -- Almost a year after a similar incident, tragedy struck again at a Texas Rangers game Thursday night when a fan fell over a railing while trying to catch a ball.

The fan, who was not identified, flipped over the railing of the outfield seats. He fell about 20 feet -- crashing head-first into an area near a scoreboard as his horrified son watched.

The man was rushed to a hospital where he died, the Arlington Fire Department said.

Major League Baseball officials said the incident occurred in the second inning of the game at Rangers Ballpark after star outfielder Josh Hamilton threw a ball in the stands for fans.

Another fan who was sitting near the victim saw him leaning over the rail. The second man tried to grab on to victim's shirt, but could not hold on.

The man had no faults except that he loved baseball to death....

While I feel bad for the dude and his family, I've gotta say...I lol'd.

If I died in some stupidly ironic way, I'd expect the internet to laugh at me too so I don't feel too bad.

This is why no one likes the Rangers.

That's a real shame. Not that his death was shameful (it doesn't really matter how one goes IMO), but it's always a shame when a dad dies in front of his kid.

I bet his little kid lol'd when he reached for his fathers legs as he went over the railing trying to get his son a game ball, but too bad he just wasn't strong enough to hold on and keep his dad alive. Atleast he got to witness him break his neck and die.

Also; I bet Josh Hamilton, who recently overcame drug abuse and alcoholism and just got his life back on track feels good about accidently causing the death of a veteran firefighter.

    That's messed up

No one ever thinks they'll die in something as simple as wanting to get a game ball to his son.

    God damn.

...gotta feel sorry for the kid.

Seriously how do you tell your six year old son "son, you know how daddy was trying to catch a ball for you at the game? And you were sitting there crying 'are you alright daddy'? Well daddy died."

Its going to be hard for this kid, but he'll feel better later on.

I have seen my uncle getting shot and killed when I was 3 or 4, and a lot of other children, women and men from my country saw their relatives getting killed, and I'm fine and whatnot now, so I hope the same will apply for this kid.

Either way, this is the most horrible way to die, which is dying in front of your son/daughter...
