Hi, I'm Priapus. (I'm not really good at pleasantries)
I'm new in this here forum, new to game-development, and new to people interaction in general. (Yes, I was imprisoned under a rock for most of my life and I have recently escaped with most of appendages intact.)
I just noticed that, though this sub-forum has been up for a long time, but is still littered with "Need-more-people" threads. I just wanted to ask why don't you all just work as a unified group of (apparently) determined people working towards the same difficult and distant goal together, instead of working on smaller, though easily achievable, but separate projects? I mean, even if you don't finish it, wouldn't you be able to learn a lot more if you worked in a group rather than struggling (in most cases, futility) as individuals?
Or perhaps a separate recruitment sub-forum for games that are actually already in development that just needs more people, from projects just about to be started. Think about it, wouldn't it be easier for people like me who has no idea how to start the actual development to just go to the recruitment section and allow myself to be bossed around that I may learn from my mentor that way? And wouldn't it be easier for those who already know what they're doing to find more people if they simply had to look at the development section and offer their services to those who need it?
Also, wouldn't it be a whole lot easier if the thread titles were descriptive as to what they need. For example, isn't "Need help converting concept text into working code" much less misleading than "New-MMO in development, looking for..."? >_> I'm no graphic artist... but if I was, I'd be thankful for the first title because it saved me the effort of going into a thread that I thought needed my help but actually didn't!
Lastly, I would like to thank Eriond for being so nice to (as far I've seen) EVERYONE, especially to new developers like me to the point of explaining how a basic C++ code works. It is your kind of attitude toward noobs like me, that no matter how oblivious we are to what we are talking about... with people like you who are there to give a helping hand... that we can. :3
