I'm leaning toward mid to late October with 3-4 weekend beta events through September and early October. This would allow it to release before the standard Blizzard release window of November and December with Diablo 3.

I will buy a new rig for this unless it supports Macs !

If that is your current rig in your sig, than it should run it. Otherwise you may simply need to upgrade your video card. The game is built around running on a larger range of computers, unlike games like Age of Conan that went for lolgraphics with very few that could actually run the game when it was released, thus shooting itself in the foot to one section of the mmo population.

Conan also had compatibility problems with some GPUS at launch as well, so even rigs(like mine) that didn't need to worry...ended up not being to run it well.

gamestop actually had the release date up for about 10 mins or so right after preorder was announced and it was for either 1/2/12 or 1/3/12 dont remember, but then again its gamestop they do use place holders, i just found it weird that when i checked back like 5-10 mins later it was gone.

yeah gamestop fails lol...the game will be released this year. CB
Weekends will start soon and then OB so i guess the release is
November or December

i think so..or they will have a test version for 30 days at the start.
the CB will be pretty much open too cause they will invite more and
more people (who reg for beta). Hope i get in soon..

It was already stated by the devs that SWTOR will not have a traditional beat, but only beta weekends due to the amount of people that signed up for beta testing, and the amount that they already have as alpha testers.

This is from the E3 interview this year with Daniel Erickson that confirms, but I will say again for the idiots that will keep asking SWTOR WILL NOT HAVE AN OPEN BETA, ONLY INVITE BASED BETA WEEKEND EVENTS.

k, ty to point this out. But hey...they said they wanna invite more and more
people to CB so i think many people can test it. I know allready someone
who got in (for a long time allready) but yeah..server isnt up all the time
only at some sepcial times at weekend. I want my own one!

I pre-order'd 2 hours after the email saying you could pre-order came out =P.

One of my fav parts so far of the game is the amount of content.
There's suppose to be like 16-19 planets in release

i woke up. saw mail and pre-ordered. they always send out that crap when i sleep.. luckely i got headstart key right away.

It would be financial suicide for EA to wait until January or even December to release it. They're in direct competition with Blizzard and GW2, so the release will be some time in October/November to contend with GW2 and Diablo 3.

isnt that bugged anymore so they will not wait because of D3 and GW2 lol.
Bioware doesnt fear D3 cause D3 is not a mmorpg its just hack and slay (online)
and Gw2 is more casual (like the first one).

its like people playing WoW and GW atm.

No, EA most definitely fears them as competition. If they didn't, they wouldn't care about releasing the game prior to 2012, and it's already a well established opinion in the MMORPG "community" (one that I don't personally share) that either GW2 or TOR will innovate to the point of changing the future of the genre as we know it.

Plus, GW2 is being marketed much more aggressively than the original. It's no longer a bunch of instances but a persistent world. Twitch based combat and an emphasis on PVP. Nothing I would call "casual".

There are plenty of bugs, the game still needs a lot of testing. It has nothing to do with whether or not the game is playable with the bugs. It has to do with there is absolutely nothing to do in the game besides Level and PvP, because that has been the extent of testing, major content has not been tested, mechanics have not been tested.

i know that the major content has not been testetd...its not like i didnt
played the beta..sure its against the NDA but he shares his acc with me.

and btw..a mmorpgs goal is to lvl up and pvp and get some nice stuff + some instance fun
There is nothing to do? did you just get into the beta? cause he is allready
over a half year there and there were many different beta phases with different
content. Perhaps you missed smth cause you are just new in the beta?

If you've been in the beta recently then you aren't in the beta anymore, seeing as the last build just ended. Which means with the new build usually comes mostly new testers, unless you provide good feedback to the point where they feel confident inviting you back.

+ Check Betacake there's alot of reviews of the beta build before this recent one and there isn't anything major they need to fix.
Just alot of second rate bug fixes and the like, nothing game breaking.
