Default Which kind of action MMO do you prefer?

    So, there are 3 choices:

    1. Action 3D MMO (Dragon Nest, Vindictus, C9, TERA etc)
    2. Action arcade style MMO (Rusty Hearts, Dungeon Fighter etc)
    3. Good old point n click (WoW, Runes of Magic etc)

Not sure if I should label category 2 as action side-scroller, but you get what I mean~

    2. Action arcade style MMO

I'm a huge sucker for those types of games so that's going to be my pick.

    3. and especially the P2P type since they tend to have way more content, none of the cash shop issues, and simply a higher quality than action mmo's.

Same could be said for games like Dragon Nest and Vindictus. I like both 3D Action MMO and Action Side-Scrollers. But if I had to choose I would say Action Side-Scrollers. I find them more fun since I kind of grew up in the generation of side-scrolling game (Mario, Sonic, Double Dragon, etc).

I'm the least bothered by linearity, if the game is challenging and if it motivates/supports team play then I'm all in for it.

I'm stuck between 1 and 2. I enjoy Vindictus but am falling in love with Rusty Hearts. :X

I don't mind 2D iso/platform side scrolling but prefer in the case of MMORPG's 3D action along the lines of Phantasy Star (Which is why I always mention it). PNCers bore me out real quick, even if I like the game and it's features. That's probably one of the main reasons I keep going back to playing Maplestory all the time.

To be honest though I'm not overly impressed with the action mmo's we got out right now (It kinds seems that way for most people seeing as everyone is waiting on the next wave). Dragon Nest ain't bad though and neither was GhostX or Dragon Saga and some of the others but a few were just outright disappointments (Fantasy Earth Zero).

I chose #2, although I like all three choices when they're done properly. However, I love 'fluid' gameplay where you can just string attacks together and that tends to occur most in #2. Not to mention, a fair amount of games in #2 are 2D pixel-based, which I prefer over 3D for my action games since they have 'pixel-perfect' precision where you can really get a feel for the exact range of everything after a while (that and you don't need to usually worry about camera issues).

That being said, I still do really like the other two categories. 3D action games can often be just as fluid as 2D ones and they tend to have higher possibilities for environmental puzzles and in generally make you make use of the environment and its shape more often while fighting. More traditional MMORPG's I actually may like even more than 2D action ones when they focus on party-play and the classes supporting each other to accomplish tasks...but that pretty much either never happens or is all crammed into endgame and even then most traditional-style games simply don't crank up the difficulty enough.

My vote goes to this. I play MMO for social aspect. Anything that requires lots of button smashing will take away that. (like no one cares to chat anymore when they are making 99hits combo)

I don't really care for which. Heck I'm playing Team Fortress and that's an FPS, I barely play that genre >_> Though, what I ask for the most is to be given a lot of freedom in movement. (Like lots of cancels and being relatively fast) DFO is a good example. (And probably Guild Wars 2) I'd play that every day for as long as possible if it weren't for lag and the ip block v_v

Although, I'm noticing a trend of normal action and fps/action and I'm not liking the latter =/ (Normally I don't like FPS') Examples would be Dragon Nest, C9 and Tera would be a few. The non-FPS would be Vindictus (Besides Kai), Blade n Soul and a bunch of others. Reason why I like Mass Effect 1 over 2. (Elder Scrolls is mostly RPG so that's okay =V)

Well just putting it out there. Ah and in terms of graphical style, I like 2D sprites the most.

To specify my vote for the 3D action mmo, it's the open world that makes it or breaks it for me. Vindictus bored me to tears in the end repeating the same dungeons and nothing but them all day, but the sheer sense of freedom I felt in TERA was staggering when combined with the combat system. It's hard to describe to people who have yet to play it, but the immersion is so much greater with the level of animation and the way combat and exploration flow into each other so perfectly.

I feel the poll is kind of biased/broken though.

    Should have been:

    Open World 3D Action (TERA)

    Instanced 3D Action (Vindictus)

    2D Open World (Maplestory)

    2D Instanced (Dungeon Fighter)

    Tab Target Style (WoW)

    Point and Click (Lineage II)
