    Default Tiara Concerto

So Gamania Re-announced that this game is still in development... or something. What do you guys think of it?

Seems like a nice idea, but the musical aspect in terms of how it's used in combat sounds kinda meh.

Hoping it doesn't turn out to be another generic MMO that's banking on one/two good ideas to be a success.

    Looks cute.
otherwise I can't say much, simply because it seems like a game that would need to be played to be truly critiqued.

I'd give it a go, I've always enjoyed music and bard style classes in MMOs so this seems fun.

I don't see any music connection in this game.

This seems like it at least has the potential to be good. The art-style really reminds me of a specific console game, but I can't recall which one.

Copy and pasting this here from simmy on the other thread: "At this time, an intangible and dreamlike force gradually awakens - with the vibration of different melodies, this force can produce a multitude of magic effects known as "Tuning Magic". When music and melodies are manipulated, they resonate with past forces, play key roles, and can even possibly re-open sub dimensional gates to return Earth to its former glory.

Apart from the regular occupations of fighters, music also plays a vital secondary role in Tiara Concerto. Musical instruments are used to emit special combat attacks and ornate battle actions, so that evil can be defeated and the wonder of the ancient civilization can be reclaimed. "

So based on that I think there are several things that can at least be guessed at. 'Sub dimensional gates' in particular sounds a lot like 'instance portal' to me, although whether these are just instanced dungeons in an otherwise uninstanced world or if the vast majority of the combat is instanced I don't know; since this is an action-y game I'm leaning more towards lots of instancing, but it may still do something like Dragonica (Dragon Saga) and be more 50/50. Musical instruments sound like a nice way to basically have a subclass without actually having an entire secondary class or, if only certain classes can play certain instruments, they may have the much more mundane purpose of determining which skill tree you go into (if you prefer flutes go skill tree X but if you use violins skill tree Y has a lot of passive buffs for those, etc).

Here is the only video I can find of the game for those interested:

The gameplay definitely looks action-oriented to me, but at the same time the hit boxes look a bit 'overly generous' so I'm guessing it's going to be more of an 'action elements' game than a full-blown 'action game'. The fights shown off in the trailer also all look like they are from instances (narrow paths and circular arenas surrounded by walls), but that doesn't necessarily mean there isn't any non-instanced combat.

Doesn't look too bad honestly. I just hope it isn't generic and point&click combat. Otherwise, total fail.

    But 10 times uglier.
    So not really.
More like the general art style is reminiscent of those games.
    But the graphics? Far from.

Gameplay looks like those baddie action mmo's. ):

Still in development, those 2 games are on super adaptive AA with x16AA, if you could force those settings on it, it could come pretty close to a slightly worser. You wouldn't want to know how good stuff can look if you force some settings on it.

I'll give it a shot. The graphics do remind me of the Tales series a little too. Whether that is good or bad will have to wait until I actually play the game.

Otherwise. Music + vidja games = Good idea, in my book.

Glad I'm not the only one that thought of Tales when I saw this.

Now if they have a storyline that can match some of the better Tales series, we might have a real game on our hands.

Anyways, how do you integrate Warriors with swords and giant axes with music....?
Don't know how that's going to work out.
I like Bard classes so, I'm probably just going to go with the Tuner.
    Makes more sense anyways.

The combat doesn't though, and to be honest that's really all I care about. the musical concept sounds interesting but I dunno if they'll actually apply it well.
