Default Question about people on diets

So I have a friend who is on a diet, and all she does is complain that shes hungry.

OK, I get trying to better yourself...but why be hungry?

I mean, personally, I like vegetables. I can eat a green pepper like an apple and be happy. Why don't people on diets just eat mad food, but only eat food thats good for them?

Like, serious, how many of those baby carrots do you have to eat before its gonna add weight on to you?

Because most female assume that if you don't eat then you don't gain weight. Its better to have a healthy diet like you said but in the end its up to the person to research how to diet properly.

Diet =/= starving yourself. If you want to lose weight you have to control your calorie intake and eat often but in smaller portions. That way you're not hungry but you still take in fewer calories than you burn in a day. You won't lose weight super fast, only cutting 500 calories a day is 1 lb every 4 days but it'll be long term weight loss. If you want to lose weight faster you'd have to start exercising to bring up your calorie consumption deficit to 1000 calories a day then you'll lose 1 lb every two days, but you'd have to do a lot of exercising.

tell her to eat cucumber, theres almost nothing in it and you can eat plenty of those. But a diet is overrated, aslong as you sport enough and watch out for unhealthy food you'll loose weight.

A diet is defined by your eating habits, so isn't everyone on a diet?

Eating healthy and doing exercise is how it's done, not eating a few laves of lettuce for a meal.

I don't know too much about specific diets but I'll share my experience.

About 4-5 years ago, I started to just eat less and less. It wasn't too much of a conscious effort. It was like, when I ate at home, I'd scoop up the rice from the rice cooker (cause that's our staple food), and I'd think it was too much, or I'd just push a little back into the rice cooker. My idea was that I'd fill up on less dead carbohydrates and more on proteins / other nutrients and shit.

And everytime I was going to buy food or drinks outside I'd just ask if I really needed it, and I still do, sometimes nowadays, but sometimes I just indulge.

What I ended up with was that I lost about 10kg / 22 lbs in around a year or so. I reached an all time low of like 110 lbs. Ugh. I'm a healthier 127 +- lbs now, though.

Recently I've been holding off eating until I really need to, cause I've needed the clarity of mind to do work and food usually just slows you down and makes you drowsy.

a diet should = permanant change in diet, Not a temporary starve yourself til you lsoe the weight.

The amount of calories are why you get fat, not what you eat.

yo ucan eat to much of anything...just depends if your willing and phsyically able to go there.

had a friend have a 'iron deposit' from having to much iron in his diet. Had to get it cut off.

just as yo ucan have to much water, you can have to much of types of food.

Food triangle ftw. And you can eat almost whatever you want, as long as you just burn it off. It really depends on the persons metab on how much needs to be done. Eating right wont really do much for you in terms of being healthy, or losing weight. Its what you do with your days, staying active. Not over doing it. I dont believe in powders or vita's. People were just fine hundreds of years ago without them, and you can be just fine without them now.

A little hard work and dedication goes a long way. Oh, and google.com

itd honestly depend on the chips on how much healthier the apples would be. I got some chips that arnt to bad for you. got some good stuff in it. This is comparing apples and oranges unless you specify if the orange was injected with cholesterol.

generally fruits and vegetables are healthier than alternative snack foods in moderation... they offer different nutrition so they arnt 'healthier' than some foods however. If your running marathons it wouldnt be healthy to just eat alot of fruits/vegetables. Yes, yo ucan eat to many fruits and vegetables. Its not healthy to eat a shit ton of fruits/vegetables to pass the starvation for "Like, serious, how many of those baby carrots do you have to eat before its gonna add weight on to you?" to just fill the hunger pains. Your overall health would plummet if you ate only fruits and vegetables without vitamins.
