It's certainly pretty looking but what is it? I can see the game isn't actually out yet but there doesn't seem to be much actual information (unless I'm missing it entirely) on what the game will actually be when it's ready.
the trees look like from terrererariria

I can barely find any information on this game at all, even basic stuff. All I know is it is written in C# and is in heavy development. Can you tell us more, chaoscauser?
Reputation: 41looks nice. I love oldschool games (graphic wise).
so is this more like a mmorpg or another mindcraft game?

Maybe this can shed some light on things?
It's an Eclipse project using Project Vertigo (modified). For those who don't understand what I just said, Its basically a Player Worlds game.*
Seems like they did make their own graphics, I haven't really had time to pour over them pixel by pixel, though. It's obvious they definitely took inspiration from Terraria though.
I'll probably keep an eye on it for a bit.
EDIT: Reading the more recent pages in that thread, seems like they are using an engine they built from scratch.*

Yeah, originally we started there but we thought for the best and decided to go a different route. Graphics were originally inspired by terraria; however changed alot during the development progress. The game is not released yet and we still have a lot of work to do, but we are making progress!
For those that don't feel like searching around for some of the game graphics, I'll post some here.

You can find concept arts there.
For people curious on what the engine is, the engine is being made in C# and XNA.
This post is more suited for the "Game Development" thread because it actually isn't released yet; however, I do hope that one day it will be posted here.
Reputation: 610It looks nice, but really.. messy? at the same time.
So how is player housing going to work? Would you have to build your place as in Terraria or Minecraft, or would you have to buy a deed and place your house in an available spot, like Ultima Online?
I will assume that you are talking about the desert town, if so, it was meant to look that way because you really can't expect a town or I may even say village in the desert to be clean and roomy.
You would buy land and from there create your house or whatever you want to be there. It could be used for a guild headquarters or a place for friends to hang out at.
But to clear up confusion, like chaoscauser said:

The graphics look much better now. Hopefully you wont be abandoning this, I've seen so many neat looking games just go down the tube.

Reputation: 106Well, this looks neat, but can Kevinboyz (or anyone else actually working on the thing) shed some more light on a few aspects? Namely:
1) will this be Terraria-esque in that all progression is based upon gear/consumables (ex: heart containers) or will there be actual levels and/or classes? If leveling exists, is it persistent throughout all worlds or is on an individual world basis?
2) Even though you are letting players create their own worlds (reminds me of Neverwinter Nights in that regard), will there still be an 'official' world(s)?
3) Will NPC's and general quests/story triggers be customizable for more story-oriented worlds (sort of a multiplayer Knytt Stories deal I guess) or is it more of a Terraria-style focus on raw progression/exploration?
4) While I realize players are free to customize their own servers, they still need to work with the tools you give them so: are you leaning more towards Maple Story with relatively minor platforming and more combat focus or more towards Terraria where there is a bigger focus on obtaining/crafting tools to make exploration and crafting easier?
5) Just how much control will the creators of each world have over it (ex: enemy placement, platform placement, item placement, all of the above but with limitations to minimize abuse, completely random Terraria-style, etc)? If they have editing control over the terrain, can they set parts of it to be 'unbreakable' to prevent griefing of parts they wish to have untouched (ex: a giant platforming segment with spikes/lava?
Also, I have two suggestions fast:
1) It sounds a lot better (and makes more sense) if you say 'games such as Maple Story and Terraria' instead of 'or Terraria'.
2) If you give world creators a fair amount of editing tools, it would be nice to make some sort of invisible background tile that can be placed to prevent people from building stuff in that location; a huge town or an intricate platforming segment can still easily be griefed if people just put dirt or, worse, water/lava all around it.
