Why do you keep saying F2P would keep the servers running more than a year? The NA severs for Phantasy Star Universe didn't shut down in a year and neither did PSO and they were P2P. Where are you pulling these facts from?

The NA/PS2 servers for PSU shutting down wasn't because of the business model, the business model was working fine until hackers messed up the economy and players left for the XBOX servers or quit.

    What are you talking about?

Also, what so great about open world?

Instead of playing and progressing with your character, you find yourself fighting over mobs, Kill stealing, fighting over loots... Camping bosses and if you lose claim you have to wait...

I don't understand what so fun in it...

It's true that in instanced games you play with like 4-6 people on average, but then again, do you play with more than 4-6 people in open worlds? Usually not, it's rare that I play with much more players than that regardless if the game is open world or instanced.

And PSO2 allows for maximum of 12 players in Multi-party areas~

A lot of the sfx are originals from PSO and PSU (the melee striking is from PSU, item pick up from PSO for example) which bring back a sense of nostalgia. I think the melee striking sound is supposed to be because of the psuedo science behind the Photon Weapons. Personally I think they fit and they did help with the timed hits but I can kind of see how they'd be annoying.

    Edit:

I always assumed that the sound was implying that from the force of the weapon being swung + the contact from Photons moving at high speed causes a "burning laceration" at the point of contact. I've burned my skin twice using an iron so I hear some of the similar qualities.

You may not like open world games, but every example you gave is a flaw with the majority of CURRENT open world games, doesn't mean they all HAVE to be like that. An open world game adds more immersion and exploration and in general is what MMORPGs are all about. Guild Wars was "closed world" and Guild Wars 2 will be open world, because the devs know it's the best way to captivate the audience.
