Default Any of you ride motorcycles?

I live in a "not so great" part of London and fully comp insurance for even a 1.2L car for me goes up to £4000/year and that's if i agree to £500 excess. Yeah.....

I have always been interested in bikes and cars, so i was going to decide to opt for a motorcycle instead as it is ALOT cheaper insurance wise and such.

Yes I know they are dangerous etc so what i'm asking is do any of you have any tips for someone who wants to get their first bike etc?

I start my tests soon and i was thinking for my first bike a 125cc? is this too much?

I was looking at the honda CBF125 for my first bike, is this a good choice?

If you plan to buy motorcycle, I'd suggest you to buy Kawasaki Ninja 250cc, it's one of the new models they have, but better get car because it's more viable and you won't have problems when the winter's hit.

I'd ask my cousin for more info if I see him and tell you some things.

*EDIT; I can't believe that I said Yamaha Ninja 250cc. -.- I forgot the name of the motorbike company and said Yamaha. -.-

My bike would be slow and low, a Harley probably. Or some kinda chopper. And American built. But thats just what would fit my personality.

You don't need a crotch rocket if you're not an asshat. Everyone I know with one of those motorcycles eventually crashes it or dies riding it. Its just asking for trouble. Theres very few places you can use that thing to its full potential, and if you have it, you're gonna wanna use it.

I say go for something economy sized and powered if you want to use it just for getting from point A to point B. No need for something big and flashy...just be intelligent about it.

I'd definitely have one, but in my part of the world, I would only have about 4 months out of the year it'd be practical to ride it unfortunately :c I grew up around motorcycles. Its not so much a part of my life anymore, but my dad was a big time biker...we went to all the stuff all the time. Its an awesome culture.

Edit: The one you posted looks perfect imo.

this is my bike Korean made.

It's a Hyosung GV650, my first one. I've had it a year now.

9 out of 10 motorcyclist will tell you that you should start 250cc or less, and I agree.

You probably want a car tho, because riding in the rain, snow, or even the cold is painful. Last year I rode my motorcycle to work until it snowed. It took about 20-30 minutes after I started riding for my hands to thaw, even with thick gloves.

A wet rode can be a lot worse than riding on gravel, too.
