    Default DDO: My return

I got back into DDO after discovering that with the new big update, the will be introducing a new class, Artificer (think tinker with pet); adding a new house, Cannith; and finalizing the crafting system.

I have to say, I been enjoying it a lot. I created a Drow Favored Soul and started my adventures a few days ago.

What I enjoy a lot is the crafting system. For a F2P member, this is very important. It gives you another option to free up space. So now you have vendor, broker, AH, and crafting.

I prefer the crafting cause I can break down the gear and make sure I can get the mats I need to create what I want. If the gear does not have what I want, I either store it for future builds, vendor it, or post it in the AH for a very cheap price.

Another thing I noticed is that it seems the population has grown quite a bit. Well, at least on Argo server it is. The newbie island is about the same. It seems many just skip the newbie island and sail to shore where everyone else is.

With casual play and party search system, I have not had a problem finding a quick run or two. I even did a few long dungeon crawls with some randoms through party search and enjoyed the company.

Overall, my return back to DDO is very refreshing. Only complaint I have is, I am probably going to dish out the $$ to unlock the half-orc. But its a minor one.

Come join me on Argo server! I shall post more about what I discovered later on. Right now, I have to jet. Attending a wake.

I'm gonna check out the cost of Arti on Monday and see if I'm up to buying it, it's a mix of rogue/divine/arcane caster and has a melee prestige line, looked at the spells and such and it just looks interesting as a true hybrid. It's going to be favor unlockable in U12, but that's a good 2 months away(If not more), so if they don't overprice it like they did with Half Orc at its release I might jump on it with a WF Arti.

I do except a majority of the good leveling content needs to be purchased, I don't think many people have hit the cap playing the very limited content available to them.

You do earn TP for playing the existing content and can use that to buy adventure packs though.

PvP only has arenas where it's really free for all if I remember correctly. Everyone complained the balance wasn't there.

If you play enough/grind enough favor you can. It'll take a LOT of work, but it's possible. If Artificer is low enough I might do a bit of favor grinding to get it instead of buying TP.

Earning TP in DDO is a daunting task. But eh... it was the first on how F2P should be done. I use my points to unlock packs. I plan on doing two things next payday... buy me 3 months and also purchasing a TP card.

I do it like this so I can play all the content unlocked for the three months, but use the TP to unlock the races/classes I want. Why? Cause half-orcs are just that cool. XP

    Jumping on right now.

I'd love to play again, but I recently stopped after about a 6 month stint on the game, on top of my PC being on the fritz and I'm only able to use this horrible, outdated laptop for the time being.

Argo server is the best, anyway.

Most players said the artificer class would bring almost nothing new to the game (other than a unique weapon and a handful of unique spells). This class makes the rogue PrE 'Rogue mechanic' all but useless and the game already has a jack-of-all-trades, the bard. Crafting is also open to everyone, making the artificer's main purpose (according to D&D rules) not so unique.
